A cautionary tale! Maybe this can save you from wasting time like me! Are some apps not playing audio to your speakers? Even with the config.txt settings all unchecked? HAVE YOU INSTALLED CORRECT AUDIO DRIVERS???
I had to reinstall Windows 11 from scratch, it's been a long time actually for me anyway. I installed everything that popped into my head, system platform drivers, CPU drivers, video card drivers, all that stuff Then I installed Equalizer APO and things started to get wonky. Are you familiar with the copilot AI? It could hear me perfectly fine, but anything it tried to say to me was completely lost. Stranger yet, I set up some settings in Equalizer APO to redirect the low base to my subwoofer, and when using copilot only the subwoofer was making sound! The audio was set with the correct speaker settings and everything,
Then I had an aha moment!
I looked at the driver that I was using for the sound card, and it was a Microsoft provided one . for a Realtek High Definition device. I guess I don't need to say much more! I installed the correct driver, and everything's been flawless since then. I used to think I was really good at this stuff! Now I'm not so sure!
