The APO Equalizer does not have any effect at all on the sound from my Win10 computer anymore. It is like it is not even installed. I can't say for sure when it stopped working but I think it was sometime after the OS upgraded itself to Windows 10 Creators Update.
The motherboard audio is Realtek High Definition Audio. I also have an Asus Xonar Essence STX audio card. APO used to work with both but now does not work for either of them.
Both devices are selected in the Configurator.exe application. The EQ and Preamp are enabled in Editor.exe.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers for Realtek and Asus and after that reinstall the APO EQ and I have rebooted more times than I can count but no matter what I do I cannot get it to have any effect.
If I change the levels of the sliders in Editor.exe it is obvious that the EQ doesn't have any effect at all.
I really need to resolve this. Where to start?
Johan

I just started using APO Equalizer and I couldn't get it to work maybe because I'm in Creators Update also. I would like to get an answer to this too, please. Btw, my mic is the c01u pro.

Not having this problem. I'm using a Behringer Q502USB with the default windows drivers (it doesn't have a special set), but I did a clean install of Windows 10 from the creators update version.
Edit: Broke it and then tried the fix Frederic linked (thanks!) and reinstalled after, works fine for the most part.

Interesting your mentionint an USB sound board (kind of). I never thoght Equalizer APO would have an effect on them. I have 2 different similar devices, I'll check them as soon as I can.

I installed windows directly from a creator's update ISO (if you access the download page from an OS other than windows, you don't have to use the media creation tool) instead of updating from a previous version.

Ah, so that means erasing your disk or getting a new one. I'd prefer a less "extreme" solution :-) Also, my system is a laptop, and I suspect the pre-installed Windows could be tailored for the specific hardware.

I just got Fall Creators Update. Unfortulately, I missed the fact the Windows was in the middle of updating itself, so that I decided to try installing OpenAL at the same time. Result: Equalizer APO is still not working on my system.

What about using Asio4all or even just fully uninstalling + reinstalling your soundcard (removing it from the device manager before the reinstall) and equalizer apo?

Just reporting, unfortunately, that John Doe's sugestoins failed (apart from physicalliy removing the sound card, which I can't do because my computer is a laptop). So I uninstalled EqualizerAPO and all the software/drivers I had installed to try to solve the issue. Thank you John Doe for trying to help me.

Same problem here (Windows 10 64 bits, Conexant smart audio HD)
I Posted a ticket https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/tickets/51/#
I tried this https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/discussion/general/thread/18d81ae5/ , without any improvement. I also tried the different options in the Configurator, no success either.

John,
What do you mean by "clean install"?

For me, it worked after I went into my audio settings and turned off "allow hardware acceleration" in the advanced tab.
