Hi @all: This discussion about PN themes using with eNvo is really not neccessary. Look into PN CVS and you can see that the postnukers began to use Encompass for their own Xanthia. I think in near future the difference between PN- and eNvo-themes would be not so dramatically and all designers will be use the same basis to develop new themes ore modify existing ones. Sure, we don't sleep and make our theme engine more perfect. But the kernel is ok so far and if the PN direction will follow our way, newer PN themes only need some finetuning to work with eNvo. So in the meantime we have to wait and observe what the postnukers will do. The solution of kiowa is really fine for the moment. The most themes will run under eNvo. Another questions is: Why we need over 100 different themes? With a complete theme documentation everybody can easily create his own customized theme like Borobudur. If I am wrong please correct me. This are my personal points of view. WindMeUp |

If they follow pani tutorial, then they can optimize their pn theme using encompass. If they only add the compatibility file, so they can use pn theme in envo. But can not use the encompass feature. sjah On 14 Jul 2003 17:24:46 +0200, Christoph Schwaeppe wrote > Is it still true what pani wrote in the tutorial "Migrating a > postnuke theme to envolution" at > http://www.envolution.com/index.php? module=subjects&func=viewpage&pageid=16 or is the only necasserity you have to do, just inserting the compatibility-file? > > Sorry I'm no themes specialist and there are som contrary opinions at > eNvo.de > THX > Christoph/gatoNero |

Hello, I am doing some research for an article I am writing on Opensource/Free Software development, and possibly a presentation at a seminar in the future. Issues I will be exploring are: interoperability, cooperation, collaboration, businesses and why they utilize the type of development model they prefer, NON-businesses and why they utilize the type of development model they prefer, and the pro's and con's of each of the above mentioned issues. In addition to technical and development side to development I am activly seeking input on the social and cultural side of opensource and free software development. If you are an experienced developer of anything, not just PHP and other scripting languages, please reply and we can hook up to do an interview. Thank you, Zoom |

You can inserting the compatibility-file and use Postnuke theme= like a Postnuke theme, but if you want to use all power and funcions of eNvolution like templates, zones, cache etc ...= you must convert it in 100% eNvolution theme .... and don't worry eheh ..... soon also all Postnuke theme must be= with all templates because they want to use Encompass, so for eNvoultion users is very easy to use all Postnuke themes. Hi Zoom, what Kiowa is doing and what he also explains at his homepage http://www.cms-themes.de is, that he just takes postnuke-themes with the compatibilty file and nothing else. He is sure, that this is enough, but it isn't, as it is written by sjah in his zoning tutorial. Kiowas problem is, that he doesn't understand english well. Therefore, I guess, he never read this tutorials. With our new upcoming german eNvolution support site we will have all this docs translated to german.;-) I guess, Kiowa will find there what he needs to get his "selfmade" themes running. Before post article about this subject in eNvo.com, I want to let you all know about the Borobudur3D idea first. I hope this idea can be implemented in the next eNvo 1.3 version. We already have rich theming system, zoning etc in current system, and now I think we can move a step further. Borobudur3D is a multi theme and templating system, which can be run under default theme such as Michelangelo or the Borobudur itself. Besides the ability to create different templates same as other eNvo themes, now this system also has the nested themes and templates, themes inside a theme. Since it has depth layout customization thats why I named it as Borobudur3D. The target of this system is not only for themes layout purpose, its intended to allow user to choose his own group and main content. For i.e member of Modules Group can get all the modules news as their main page. This can be implemented for departments in corporate, university for students subject groups or any web content which has various groups of members. For commercial purpose, we can locate different banners targeted to spesific groups. And sure marketing people will like a lot this features :) This system already installed in my site www.uiarch.org, You can try to change your channel from the My Account page. If you choose Modules channel then you will have the modules news as your main page with Michelangelo theme. If you choose english tutorial channel, you will have the Piterpan theme. This idea came, since I'm too lazy to learn the multisite stuff, since it seems lot of settings and besides that have not enough time to maintain several sites even it can share some db. By this system I can manage some different groups from the same admin pages. The next step I want to contribute on Members List modules, adding the group listing and the ability for admin to choose which group shown or not from the site visitors. And if possible it can be integrate with address book module, where all valuable users inforamtion are stored based on its grouping. Just try it, and any suggestions are welcome sjah |

I was wondering if anyone has looked into this to possibly incorporate into Envolution -- As described on Postnuke site: http://mods.postnuke.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&s id=1802 "this hack is significantly decrease numbers of SQL queries for modules that use pnModGetVar() function (almost of them)" http://home.postnuke.ru/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index &req=viewdownload&cid=4 |

adodb : If we can be sure that troubles of connection are coming from that, it is necessary to make a patch. But if we are not sure, panadb must be included in the next version of envolution. that's what i think. I maked some test with adodb 3.60 and i think it work right, i installed it= also in envolution.com and envolution.it and all work great. Want someone make some test ^? You can download pnadodb package here http://www.envolution.it/pnadodb.zip = just remplace all pnadodb in your envo directory. I have some notice about that someone have lilttle connection problem with= php 4.3.2 and eNvolution 1.25FLS use adodb 2.50, so maybe with this version we can resolve some troubles. and ....... if we want to use it we must make new version with new pnadodb= and some little fix or make a patch ?
