Hi friends, what's going on with the germna-speaking eNvo support-site? Meanwhile I'm the only active admin and supporter there. I don't hear anything from Windmeup and Naphta since nearly two eeks. Did there happen any trouble, I didn't get any notice about it? At envo.de there is starting some rumour about that, see the thread "DAS NERVT ECHT...", which means: "IT'S REALY BORING..." http://www.germany.envolution.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Arena_Forum&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=447&12 We have some questions about themes, I can't answer. We have some very active theme-developers, which are representing a big community by themselfes. They don't know, what in themes changed between 1.2 and 1.2.5FLS. I can't answer there questions and they aren't able to develop there themes. (Is there still any use of fontsize setting in encompass? etc.) I need some help, or we will get a serious demage in our german community hanks for Your help gatonero/Christoph -- Christoph Schwaeppe mailto:chr...@t-... |

I want to develop a portal system using eNvolution 1.2.5FLS that allows for unassisted portal creation from users. It will be something like tripod, geocites, msn groups or yahoo but much better because instead of a few cheezy sites they get the power of the eNvolution Content Management System at their disposal for as many sites as they can handle. I believe that some hacking with the 80% mark of www.blog.linuxguru.ca/install.php to make it nice for having millions of people view it and use it and then using modify_config.php to write new vitual host information to an include file for httpd.conf and creating some dynamic directories inside the parameters folder and the accompanying config file (thats all I ever have in mine, 1 config file) that a dynamic eNvolution self propagating internet search engine devouring monolith of incredible and undeniable proportions will be born.=20 eNvolution sites will be rising from the dust of the post apocalyptic era and realize their potential inside a new internet presence defined by the users of eNvolution Portal Services. Self replicating and user maintainable content management will drive ever increasing numbers of mutant CMS users and static website users including business and organizations towards the monolith. =20 eNvolution development will skyrocket as users search for more and better ways to utilize their sites for maximum effectiveness.=20 Contributions will flow based on user satisfaction in a superior idea who's time is yet to still reach an apogee. eNvolution Content Management Portals will be the choice for information display and management for millions. Most things are modifiable and I can see light at the end of the tunnel if I keep hacking modify_config.php to write to /config/http/httpd.conf and to have it dynamically assign directories and files to the /config/parameters/config.php path. I know this is possible to do and I have just started. What I can't see is how would I write dynamic site names like www.yoursite.workwanted.ca to my DNS zone file. Any help would be appreciated by not only me but millions and millions of unhappy, unsatisfied, over advertised tripod, geocites, MSN Groups, and Yahoo groups users. I only understand one thing. If we build it they will come... And they will come in masses unlike the eNvolution community has never seen before. =20 On Fri, 2003-06-27 at 23:14, Arden Wiebe wrote: > On Fri, 2003-06-27 at 16:14, Stefan K=F6hler wrote: > > @Arden: > > Do you have commit your changes on CVS? > > If so, this is a fault. > > We have stop working on envolution_1.2.5 >=20 > I have not made a single commit yet! That is a nice idea ... I think about also to open dedicated forum and write a good tutorial step by= step to convert Postnuke themes to eNvolution themes, because Postnuke have lot and lot of themes but them= can't use power of eNvolution graphic engine. Someone already write a little tutorial to porting pn themes, maybe we can= re-write it better. I have an idea that could get more themers and end users more involved in the community. How about a template exchange program where end users and themers can modify "templates only" to achieve design changes and implementations. This would nullify the need to re-do a complete theme yet still allow for customization. The premise to this would be a contest for the most radical template design and a repository to upload the templates for others to use as they see fit. Envolution would only have to promote this and offer a some sort of recognition as a prize. While time restraints preclude my own involvement in this idea I did want to pass it by you folks for feedback, and see if someone would take the ball and run with it by prmoting it on all envolution international network websites and even proactivly post to other cms type sites to attract interest. Any volunteers...no coding required..only an hour or so of your time ,once a week, for a couple of weeks. If it turns out to be something really popular then maybe it can become an ongoing thing. Today, we have more and more differents languages for installation. Everyone has a personnal convention of writing the name of their readme file. So now we have install for english language, installer for french language, installdeu for german and others like intallacja, installa and so on... Perhaps it will be a good thing to have all the same convention and it could be like this : install_us for english install_it for italian install_de for german install_fr for french or if you prefer install-us, and so on. Like this people could better recognize their own file for installation, without trying to open differents files to be sure to have the good language. philipc (france) |

Fixed spelling of Main Menu entry for "Messagges" which should be "Messages" and changed "Whilst" to "While" since "Whilst" is horrible horrible British slang. Zoom |

My appologies. I try and learn CVS better. All I have so far is this. www.blog.linuxguru.ca/install.php Please see that if you want to run some sites I can arrange it. This is the prerelease4 version of the installer. All I must do is write you the DNS entries for www.yoursite.linuxguru.ca. =20 >=20 > @All: > The package for version 1.2.5FLS is ready and we prepare for eNvo 1.3 > eNvolution 1.2.5 FLS is our stable version and we must take care with thi= s > branch. @Arden: Do you have commit your changes on CVS? If so, this is a fault. We have stop working on envolution_1.2.5 @All: The package for version 1.2.5FLS is ready and we prepare for eNvo 1.3 eNvolution 1.2.5 FLS is our stable version and we must take care with this branch. Only fixes will be allowed, but don't commit anything without informing TiMax or me. So, please safe your work and wait until TiMax or I will inform you to use the new envolution_1.3 branch on CVS. This new branch is coming soon. Morning. Was hacking around with the subjects model as of last night. Discovered that either I am not implementing the header.php hack included in /subjects/pnlang/eng correctly || there is a bug (gasp) || my header.php is flawed. Can someone check www.workwanted.ca and the subject/pages in the block until you see the error. Anyone else have the same feature? Also stop and physically read an article (article not subject i.e.: News) and then view the source. If the page lit up with underline links view the source there. This is header.php hack I find for manipulating and kleaning up postnuke keywords. This hack is at www.aquanuke.com in November news I think. Other than that I'm holding a lot of members accountable with a slow version of eNvolution. Maybe I can get them to pay for a faster version, LOL the newsletters going out at the end of the month LOL. I recently set up permissions for them to add and approve themselves and take care of the news, weblink, sections etc, and they are catching on. I even have the API adminmail sending them (about 10 managing editors) email about the new members and all. Had to hack the NS-Settings.php in the form as it was only taking 100 characters or maxlength=100 which I promplty set to maxlength=10000. (Perhaps I hack around that file more today.) If only I could get the right permissions for individual users being able to edit their own news which will be possible with the correct permissions in the subject module. Yet to try that one. Subjects is a good news replacement but IMHO should never replace news or at least keep news compatibility with future releases. Happy to see sections still works, very as there is just too much content in my sections modules. Why can't we ship with the working user permissions for the file manager and the subjects module. Did I just read something about FLS being ready? I'm still here - but not feeling too alive at present. I work for a small new media company and we're going through a bit of a tough time at present. Hence its 'all hands to the pumps' and I haven't been able to contribute much to the project over the last few months. Hopefully stuff will be more sorted at the end of the year and I can assist again with some documentation tasks/testing and small code fixes/suggestions (stronger as a designer than a coder). Anyway, in the meantime I'm still watching closely what you're all up to, occasionally contributing to discussions, am running an Envo-based site and have installed a couple of others. Thanks for all the hard work from the team. End users like myself are very appreciative - even if we don't always find time to say so. I'm kinda alive! :) After moving into a new house; done a 1 1/2 month redecorating, painting etc..etc, I am somewhat tired. Still, I haven't got my ISP connection ready, and at work... well, there is some work to be done there, as well. \t:) On 25 Jun 2003 16:14:44 -0500, Scott Kindley wrote > OK..been kinda quiet lately. > > Who's alive and who is dead?? > > LOL > > Zoom > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by: INetU > Attention Web Developers & Consultants: Become An INetU Hosting Partner. > Refer Dedicated Servers.
