Subject: HOW TO DO DIGITAL SIGNATURE TESTING

Hi,
I have a java Keystore created and am trying to use Hermes to digitally
sign the message. However, I get the following error "RequestException while
sending: Cannot get certificate path: PrivKey1". The required alias is
present in the keystore and the path is correct. Where can I get additional
info on the possible causes of this failure?
Cheers.........

Hello, we are a norwegian company that is implementing Tibco BusinessConnect ver. = 3.5.0 as a B2B Gateway. We now have several customers that are considering = using Hermes as the MSH handler on their side. My question is if anyone has= any experiences with interoperability between these products, or more gene= ral are the issues that might create problems ....... I appreciate all input. =F8yvind |

Hi, Have you got the Request/Config/URL property in msh_client.properties.xml set properly? This property should hold a value pointing to the URL of your MSH. If the problem is still there, you can take a look at the log file. The log file location is specified at MSH/Log properties. There may be some clues. For further questions, please send to ebx...@li.... This is the mailing list dedicated for questions and comments on Hermes. You can subscribe to the list at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ebxmlms. Hi,
> Is it possible to easily acertain the MSH that sent an ebxml message aside from the <From><PartyId> element in the message itself to confirm that the 'from' party hasn't been spoofed? i.e., does the Request object ever get and store the URL of the MSH that sent the message using Socket.getInetAddress() or similar? This might be a useful feature otherwise.
I also agree with Ronald that to prevent spoofing, transport level
authentication (e.g. client authentication) can be used so that the IP
address of the sender is not restricted. We are currently reengineering
Hermes to do this kind of authentication.
> The call to onMessage() in hk.hky.cecid.phoenix.message.handler.Request.run() (~line 288) is wrapped in a blanket "catch" statement that doesn't seem to report the errors it catches to any log. This makes it arbitrarily hard to know if something has gone wrong in any code that implements the MessageListener interface because if an exception occurs that you don't explicitly catch in your implementation of the interface, you'll never know it.
Thanks. Actually, the exception caught is recorded to
"exceptionMessage" variable and there is a method getExceptionMessage()
(~line 340) to retrieve it. I just forget to invoke this method of this
polling thread somewhere in Request in order to log the error. Modification
will be made.

I don't think the sendig url is important. If security is needed, transport authentication should take place and to prevent spoofing, a transport authentication should be verified/checked against message-authentication (signature?) I'm working out such a mechanism (ldap based, but if it becomes a 'hook' other implementations (file based?) could be implemented as well). You can uncomment it to = hk.hku.cecid.phoenix.message.handler.ToUrlResolverImpl. This mechanism works as follows. If such a ToUrlResolver implementation does not exist, Request will always use toMshUrl = (specified upon Request instantiation). In msh.properties.xml, there is a property <ToUrlResolver>. You
can uncomment it to hk.hku.cecid.phoenix.message.handler.ToUrlResolverImpl.
This mechanism works as follows. If such a ToUrlResolver
implementation does not exist, Request will always use toMshUrl (specified

the <To><PartyId> in the ebXML message to see if it is a resolvable URL
with supported transport protocol, say, http://, and this URL will be used
then. However, if the <To><PartyId> is not resolvable, say, urn:oasis:,
Request falls back to use toMshUrl. So, you can implement your own
ToUrlResolver and set it in msh.properties.xml to map those schema names
like urn:oasis: to a physical URL of HTTP or Mail.
Hope this help!

Hi- I've been writing an MSH server that listens and accepts ebxml messages = from a number of seperate, remote MSH sources; and then attempts to = respond asynchronously to the senders with new ebxml messages.=20 I implemented it by creating a single Request object with a single = MessageListener. When I want to respond to a message, I check the "from = party" ID in the received EbxmlMessage, and create a new EbxmlMessage to = which I add MessageHeader objects with new "to party" ID's specified by = MessageHeader.addToPartyID(). Unfortunately, it seems as if the Request object always sends the = message to the MSH that was specified upon instantiation, regardless of = what I pass in using MessageHeader.addToPartyId(). Am I = missinterpretting the function of adding a "to party" to an ebxml = message as header? =20 If this is the case, it seems like I would have to create a new Request = object everytime I receive a message from a different remote MSH that I = want to respond to, and pass each Request object another reference to = the listener. Is there a better recommended way? Another issue- if the "to party" header has no relationship to the = actual receiver of the message (and seemingly the "from party" header to = the sender), what are the functions of these headers? regards, b.geilfuss =3D=3D Brad Geilfuss Sierra Systems 400 N. You can use a "*" in conversationId upon registration which means this
ApplicationContext would receive all kinds of conversationId's.

Hi CY, For an applicaiton to receive in MSH, an application context is required that includes the Service, CPAId, Action and the conversation ID. Since the conversation id changes everytime (depending upon the sender: for example, ebmail sends the message id or something unique), is it possible to register an application without the conv ID. For example when I have an app registered, and send a message from ebmail to an app registered with a msh (which can poll a mailbox), I can never make that app receive it, because of the conv id. Any help will be greatly appreciated. By the way congratulations on the ebmail app- it is really good. Regards, Visva _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? Yes it is a bug of Hermes on 0.9.3.0, since MySQL is expecting case
sensitive table names, and we are not using writing the table names
using consistent cases. <br>

Patrick Apart from watching output of client, I was watching output of MSH servlet as well, and that's what made me think there was a problem with delivering messages. This is what I got: ------------- Client output ------------------------------------- Sending message msg_1056646109774@http://localhost:8080/msh/_to_http://localhost:8080/msh/ ... Sent OK. Message C:\Documents and Settings\michal.DELL01\IdeaProjects\HEMP\src\koko.txt sent. If you want to use onMessage(), return null in getClientUrl() is the
right way. I'm not sure what you mean by returned all messages as
undelivered. I inspected your code, normally you send message using
sendMessage(), and the message will come in from onMessage().<br>

<pre wrap="">Hi Patrick,
I tried to change code so that there is only one program running but it
still didn't help.
HempClient now implements MessageListener and creates request with itself as
a listener. But it still throws RequestException when I try to create that
request.
Problem arises when I change getClientUrl() from returning null to returning
a path to a local folder.
I tried running it with getClientUrl() returning null sending messages to
itself and it returned all messages as undelivered. I'd guess it was caused
by getClientUrl() returning null. Source files of both Client and
MessageListener are attached.

<pre wrap="">Hi Michal,
Is you HempClientMessageListener implementing MessageListener interface?
Or it extends from MessageListenerImpl? If possible, please attach the
source code to us so that we can have a better understanding on your
situation. Thanks.
