#88 New download will not open - WIN11
I have been using the program for years. I recently got a new laptop and I am trying to get it to run. It has a recent version of WIN 11 Pro. I have been through the downlload and install twice. THe icon is on my desktop but when i try to open, a screen (looks like an old DOS prompt) pops up quickly and then closes. Please help!

Open a command prompt (like a dos window), cd (change directory) to the folder
where easyabc is located. (You can navigate to the folder where easyabc is located
using your file explorer, highlight the folder location on the top and press control-c
to save it on the clip board.) In the command prompt, type cd and then press control-v
to grab the contents of the clipboard. Now when you start up easyabc, the command prompt
window will not disappear and you will be able to catch the error message which
caused easyabc to crash.

Thanks Seymour. I tried that but the same thing happens, Screen pops up for a second and disappears. this is what the CMD prompt looks like: C:\Users\thoma>cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyABC"

I am sorry to be a pain in the ass with this but I haveno idea what else to do. I'm an Irish trad piper and I have hundreds of tunes in EASY ABC .

Hi Seymour - thank you! You're a hero. That worked - I follwed the steps as described and it is now up and running on my new laptop. FOr the record - it was Step 1 that worked and I did have yo download both 86 and 64 to get it to work. I didn;t think to ask AI! I shoIt's now made all of the 'headers' for my saved files red - not sure what that is about - but it wokrs and plays. I greatly appreciate your help! Thank you.
