I use this Game with DxWnd too, so i attached my own DxWnd Export for the Game.
It should work, but i remember some of these error in the past.
I have a few Games in my Collection which just doesn´t like "Long File Paths".
"Chronicles of Riddick" is one of them. But i´m not sure if this is the Problem here, so just try my Export.

    Hmmm, that´s strange.
Cause i have the GOG Version too and i just tested it again a minute ago.
In addition to my DxWnd Export you should use the Game in Windowed Mode as i know the Game doesn´t like DxWnd when in Fullscreen.
If that fails, i can give you my Configuration of the Game, so we have the same.
But if that also fails, i have no idea then.
Btw. it´s a fact that this Game isn´t very optimized, i still to this day don´t understand this Aspect Ratio Option in the Options Menu.

    Edit:
If you use my Export, don´t forget if you have a different Resolution, then not only change it in Main Tab, but also in the Video Tab under the Initial Resolution. Not changing anything in this latter option results the Game into a tiny Resolution. This fixes this.
In case you have a 1920x1080 Resolution, i attached the Export once again so you don´t have to change anything. Just don´t forget to change the Path to the Exe in the Main Tab.

still didn't work unfortunately. I am running windows 10 so not sure if that makes a difference. I also have the game installed on a ssd drive and not on the C drive so not sure if changing the game to the C drive would do anything but you never know. I might just buy the classic game on ebay next month to see if that will do anything. thanks again for the help.

Hmm. To confuse you even more i have Windows 10 too.
You know what, i just attach now my Config. Put it here:

C:\Users-------\AppData\Local\Atari\The Chronicles of Riddick - Assault on Dark Athena\Environment.cfg

This is the last thing i can help you with. As you know by now, i use the GOG Version and running it on Windows 10 too and it works. So i´m out of options. So yeah, you did correct by running it on any Drive other then C is always a good move.
So, you have my DxWnd Export and now the Config File. If that still fails, then .... i don´t know.

Uhm... I recall some game that didn't work on a networked drive because Windows handles this type of drive with different permissions. Maybe the SSD device could make the difference? Is it just a SSD disk mounted within the computer or is it connected to a USB port? In any case, a try on the normal HD device could be worth the effort.

Too bad. The game is working perfectly also for me, GOG version with the two episodes, DxWnd configured with default settings, unique warning to hook the file "\System\Win32_x86\DarkAthena.exe" hidden in the game folder. But I'm sure Jack did that, since he has the game running on Win7.

The screenshot attached to the first post talks about a missing module. Maybe the game expects some missing component. If I could get some DxWnd logs, maybe I could tell more.
