    Hello. I'm trying to run this game in 1080p using DxWnd but I can't. When I enter the graphics settings, the game crashes. This is not a program bug, it is a game bug. But the game works in 720p. Also the game works fine when I switch to the integrated Intel video card and I can even go into the graphic settings and change the screen resolution and graphics quality, but the FPS is very low. When I switch back to my 760 gtx or 1080 gtx game crashes when I try to enter the settings. What could be the problem? Can you help?

      AITD is a nasty game for modern platforms, it stopped working since XP, so the steam release must be patched somehow and it would be no use to try analyzing the problem with some other game version. Also, purcheasing a copy of a game that I own in endless versions (it was sold at cheap proce many times) is not my preferred option.
      We may start looking at the logs: you could try hooking the game with default settings plus "OpenGL / Hook OpenGL" flag and log flags set this way (see screenshot), run a very quick game session trying to set the higher resolution and then send me the dxwnd.log file. Then, we will see what to do next ...

    I tried to run the game in a virtual machine but it worked the same.

    yeah, this game is really bitching around.
    i also never really get it work correctly.
    This game seems normal to crash when go into the Graphics setting.
    I managed to have a way in which i just downloaded the Atari\AITD\prefs.aitd/res.aitd from someone, and then put that in the Local Place where the game normally creates these files.
    So i didn´t have to go in the graphics settings.
    But now, after a new Windows Installation, this game behaves just like it was in all the other Installations before. It just crashing with no error.
    In the last Installation i got it working, now suddenly it start with problems again.
    I really recomndend to you that you abandoned this game. It is not worth the hassle.
    I tested this game so often in so much Windows Installations. And now that crashing starts again.
    This game is just really badly optimized.
    You would better have a chance playing this game on a Xbxo 360 Console.
    Oh, and injecting that game in DxWnd just crashes it also.
    Not worth it.

    In the log it seems that the EnumAdapterModes call reports resolutions up to 800x600 and no more. This is obviously untrue, and may depend on some DxWnd virtualization. You may try to switch from Vide VGA mode to Native mode and set DirectX emulation renderer from the default "primary surface" to "none". Also check that no resulution limitation flags are active ....

    I tried this method with file manipulations. When you try to enter the graphics settings - crash. The res.aitd file is not created.
    When you try to slip a file in different versions with read-only attributes, it either resets the settings to standard (720p-Medium), or the game loads without menus (everything seems to be in the same 720p) video clip from the menu is spinning but there is no reaction to the keyboard / mouse.

    The original res.aitd file would look like this:

    ResolutionWidth = 0800
    ResolutionHeight = 0600
    NewResolution = 0
    PrevResolutionWidth = 0800
    PrevResolutionHeight = 0600

    Yesterday I noticed that the image is stretched, so I set the options that you recommend and the image now looks like 720p, but the game still crashes when you go to the graphic options.
