    I have a question. What to do if the game starts only when I turn off all support for HAL? With any HAL support, the game starts but displays the wrong color palette. Without HAL, the colors are OK, but the game is not smooth. Could this be a problem with my graphics card? I dumped textures from this game and I think the game is trying to use a color palette not supported by my graphics card, but maybe I'm wrong? I am attaching logs with and without HAL. I have the game from the newspaper Świat Przygód z Hugo - https://archive.org/download/redump_pc_S-2/Swiat%20Przygod%20z%20Hugo%205-2007%20%28Poland%29.7z

    I'll try the game later (when download is finished) but again I see in your +HAL log the same blit error when trying to blit and scale at the same time. If this is a generic problem I could try to make a fix, but since I have no hardware you'll have to help me.

    The game here works perfectly with default settings!
    I have to do some coding, it will take a while, then I'll ask you to make some tests.

    @MrPepka
    I replicated your problem. I have an old Nvidia, so it's obvious that this palette problem also occurs with old cards. The behavior is the same even without DxWnd. I'll research it for a while.

    MrPepka which HAL flag disable do you mean? If I enable ddraw:ForcesHAL, the game not run.
    I have no change with "No HAL device". Another combination with which you can start the game with the correct palette is
    Suppress ZBUFFER attach + ddraw:ForecesHEL, but the main character is not visible and the game jerks.

    I literally turned on two options in the "DirectX (2)" tab. These options are "No TnL HAL Device" and "No HAL Device"

      I see it. The tearing is even worse than the combination of flags I have described. Probably the game runs in some Ramp or RGB emulation. Could you try the flags I described above?

    Today I tried the flags you write about and the color palette is OK, but the game still cuts

      Yes, I know. I'm afraid there is no solution for this game for Nvidia graphics card owners.
      The behavior is the same even without DxWnd and all three versions of the game behave the same (British, American, Russian).

    Hmm, it's probably some kind of game engine problem. I have two more games using this engine and they also have a palette problem (although luckily the gameplay looks okay and has no problem with rendering textures). These games are Roller Coaster Mania 1 and 2. I also have them from the "Świat przygód z Hugo" newspaper - https://archive.org/download/redump_pc_S-2/Swiat%20Przygod%20z%20Hugo%2010-2007%20%28Poland%29.7z

    Because you have a Intel HD Graphics card ;) I have an NVIDIA graphics card and I can see this problem

    I discovered something yesterday. There was another game (on the same engine as Scooter Pro and two Roller Coasters Mania) that also had a broken color palette on NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards. The problem there continued in the times of Windows XP. Interestingly, this problem was solved only by Dege creating a patch for this game to fix this problem. Unfortunately, I do not see the source code of the patch, but it is possible that thanks to HexDump it would be possible to determine changes in this exe and thanks to this it would be possible to implement this patch for DxWnd so that it would work in other games. Link to game - https://www.old-games.ru/game/download/11350.html and link to patch - http://dege.freeweb.hu/Patches/bin/FrankHerbertsDune_patched.zip
