I've been looking to play charlotte's web on win 10 but I cant for the life of me get it to work (mind you that doesn't mean much because I'm new to all this stuff) I can install it just fine but once the launcher pops up and I click play it just crashes. I have the original CD if that means anything

There's a disc image on Internet Archive, that should be enough for me to get the game and try to find a good configuration for Win10. I'll try, please be patient because these days I am rather busy on other errands and I can't work with the usual speed ....

Uhm... this was easy.
The main problem is that the original game is protected with SafeDisc that is a copy protection unsupported on Win10.
To run the game you probably don't even need DxWnd, you just have to download and replace the executable with a cracked version like the one that you can find here: https://www.lonebullet.com/cracks/download-charlottes-web-wilbur-and-friends-v10-english-fixed-exe-free-930.htm
The site requires a little care about decompressing the archive with the password and take care not to stumble on some vicious link, but with a little attention it can be done. Or, otherwise, ask me, I already got a copy.
Once installed the game (full install is suggested) and replaced the executable, the game could run alone or, if you prefer it in window mode, using the attached DxWnd profile.
Please, let me know if all this works.
any chance you can help me get the scooby doo case file 1 to work on win 10? (there is a note in the profile but i cant make sense of it) there is a old thread but it looks to be for win 7

The game was released on 2002 and still works perfectly on my Win11 computer, both with or without DxWnd with the suggested profile. But the game is full of animations that require a compatible video codec to be played, otherwise it would not work.
In my note I gave the instructions to install manually the ir50_32.dll codec, it's not difficult but you have to make sure you have the ir50_32.dll file somewhere in your system, then open a command prompt with administrative privileges and execute the command as written in the notes.
As an easier alternative, it is possible (but not sure) that downloading and installing the last K-lite codec pack (https://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm) may fix the problem.

So, there is a little trick to run the game without the CD mounted.
It is necessary to create a "cd" folder in the game folder (the folder where "Case File #1.exe" is located), then copy in this cd folder the entire content of the folder "Scripts and Resources" from the CD, then use this new game profile with a recent DxWnd release.
This configuration should have also the advantage to be fully relocatable: it should work no matter in which path you install the game.
In my old notes I have it stated:
To make the game work without a CD, it was necessary to copy all the files from the CD from the "Scripts and Resources" folder to "Scripts and Resources" in the game folder.
It is possible to use FakeCD, but then the videos did not work.

Yes, I have a similar note in the exported profile, but it seems that this second profile works the same and needs a smaller packaging. Following the instructions above with fake-CD the videos were played perfectly. I didn't test it thoroughly, but the new configuration is worth a try ...

Unfortunately I can't test it because I found out I already deleted the iso. However, I tried your profile and it works normally except that the game is slightly ripples if it's set to more than 640x480. Also after losing focus I just get a black screen, the game image doesn't refresh.

whenever i try to play the game i can get the launcher to work and i can enter my name but once i click play i get a pop up that says to reinstall the game then it takes me back to the launcher in a endless loop

My bad, I posted the profile that requires the copy of some files into the fake-CD folder. If you can leave the CD mounted, this alternative configuration should work, please try it.
@Rose Wolf
The launcher didn't work for me the last time I tried it, the game kept asking for the CD even though image CD was munted. I had to run the game directly with "Case File #1.exe".
