Maybe there is an error in the bb-hosts file.
Try using the default from the original install.

Try to copy the bb-hosts file to the devmon directory, change the
devmon.cfg file and rerun devmon. This should clear the access problem
at lest.<br>

I am wondering if you have some space in the dir path. What happens ls
you copy the bb-hosts file path and to an ls command. ?<br>

that it defaults, and specifying the path absolutely. Both have the same
effect.
I've got to say I'm a little stumped as to where the "unable to" message
is generated because the user can read the file without error ... ?

Try to copy the bb-hosts file to the devmon directory, change the
devmon.cfg file and rerun devmon. This should clear the access problem
at lest.<br>

I am wondering if you have some space in the dir path. What happens ls
you copy the bb-hosts file path and to an ls command. ?<br>

Is their a trick to using the 'alarm' or 'noalarm' flag in devmon???
When I use the same syntax on an exception but use the 'only' flag, it

Acknowledged. This should be an easy fix (a .pri tag that would switch
the primary oid to whatever oid you applied it against). I've got the
devmon RRD collector code done (both for devmon and hobbit) and I'm
testing it against our devmon cluster here. I hope to have a new
release out sometime this week.

Still working on my cisco IOS 6509 template. I am trying to put together
a report, listing the envirormental sensors and their values. With this
SNMP device it is possible to set the thresholds within the device
itself. Which is great, since I am not on the network team, and just
wish to report on the health of the device. Ideally I would like to feed
off the thresholds configured on the device, instead of hardcoding my
own thresholds in devmon. That way there is only one group of thresholds
set, and false-positive alerts are not sent.
So here are the OIDS of the sensors:
sensorStatus : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.1.1.1.5 : branch
sensorValue : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.1.1.1.4 : branch

Devmon supports error summaries at the top of a table using the
".errors" oid flag. Most of the cisco templates provided with devmon
have an example of this:
TABLE:
Ifc name|Ifc speed|Ifc status
{ifName}{ifAliasBox}|{ifSpeed}|{ifStat.color}{ifStat}{ifStat.errors}
^^^^^^^^
That flag within the table will cause errors to be printed above the
table.
Does that do what you want?
If devmon, while parsing a table, runs into a branch OID w/o data, it
handles it in one of two ways: if it is a primary oid (i.e. the first
oid listed in the table template), the table is left blank. If it is a
non-primary oid, it will whine about it and throw an error (a yellow
alarm, I believe).

Ah, I was missing that. I was thinking that if any row reached a warn/panic threshold, it would be sumarized at the top of the report. Like how the BB/Hobbit disk test works, there is an allert sumary & then the disk listings. If a report is rather long, the alert summary helps convey what the problem is when an alert email is sent.
