A couple suggestions sent to me privately. Thoughts? - BS -----Forwarded Message----- ... somebody other might also have the same scenario and would like to mount a share through a firewall. so a good thing would be mount.davfs (http://dav.sourceforge.net/) as you can use it to mount a share on a DAV-enabled Webserver and usually port 80 or 443 is open on a firewall. there is also an interesting kernel patch (http://shfs.sourceforge.net/) with which you can mount a filesystem over ssh. when setting up dovecot in the release 1.0.5a I noticed the following: dovecot always checks for new mail in /var/spool/mail while postfix saves mails in the jail in /var/spool/postfix/var/mail. It was of no use to change the environment variable for MAIL to /var/spool/postfix/var/mail, dovecot didn't bother. As it would be to risky to lose the mailboxes after a reboot, I wanted to save the mbox persistently. So I have extended the /etc/init.d/postfix so that when giving it the start argument it mounts a share to /var/spool/postfix/var/mail, then I have to chmod (otherwise dovecot has not sufficient privs) this directory and last I symlink /var/spool/mail to /var/spool/postfix/var/mail. As I have the user-homes set to /mnt where I also mounted a drive I have a perfect mailsystem without any data loss. As soon as I can mount samba-shares instead of /dev/hda1 and /dev/hda2 my proxy server can die and I can just take another cheapo computer and start devil-linux. I love it. same thing I did with the squid cache and logs, so the cache hasn't to be rebuilt after a reboot. |

It is a portable userland implementation of the secure and patent-free Common Address Redundancy Protocol (CARP, OpenBSD's alternative to the VRRP). Strong points of the CARP protocol are : very low overhead, cryptographically signed messages, interoperability between different operating systems and no need for any dedicated extra network link between redundant hosts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=938978&group_id=34096 |

Yeah we're still looking for somebody who takes care of the docs.... Take a look into the folders build/configuration and build/configuration/help , there is the menuconfig + help stuff. Heiko |

Heiko, Friedrich, I didn't get neither accept nor reject about my "after last minute" new feature adding procedure ;-) So I attach a little patch for the kernel config. LCD4Linux needs PPDEV module to drive an LCD via paralel port. I attach also an init script for LCD4Linux. Is there a general way to add a new package (what scripts/files need to be created and where, etc)? I think about the file which adds the new package to the menuconfig. I found only some things in the manual but they fall short to create a working package. Zsolt |

I know it is supposed to go into the background anyway and gets this info from the config file, but it doesn't work. I'm still planning on getting hostapd working without a lot of manual configuration, but that's a story for another day. That's it, I'm done, the wedding can proceed ;-) Martin |

Hi Developers! Heiko, Bruce and myself have come to the agreement that it is time for a new release, namely Devil-Linux 1.2.0. Therefore I am announcing hereby a FEATURE FREEZE in the current Devil-Linux 1.1.x tree so we can prepare for a release of Devil-Linux 1.2.0. Anybody working on a patch right now and wanting to have that included in 1.2.0 please "SPEAK NOW (or Forever Hold Your Peace)!"(1) Please understand that we are only going to accept bug fixes from now one. New features have to wait till 1.2.0 is released and the 1.3.x tree opens up. I removed "--with-msession" from the PHP script and it works. It looks like we need some extra software for that option. I have no idea what it does.
