Hello Diego, I created this build kit to allow people to develop their own packages http://www.thinman.com/devil-linux/dl_build.tar.bz2 It is not very automated but easy to use. Read the README file for instructions. John Ps, it is kind of big. If this is a problem, please let me know (or if you have any other problems) --- Diego Torres <dt...@co...> wrote: > > are there any docs about adding new packages to devil-linux? any rules that i > need to follow, something i should consider? > > thxs in advance :) > > -- > -- Use of a keyboard or mouse may be linked to serious injuries or disorders. > > Diego Torres - dt...@co... - Madrid / España > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek > Welcome to geek heaven. > http://thinkgeek.com/sf > _______________________________________________ > Devil-linux-develop mailing list > Dev...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/devil-linux-develop ===== John van Vlaanderen ############################################# # CXN, Inc. This email is to inform you of release '1.8.7' of 'Snort' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/snort/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release contains bugfixes and backports from 1.9. The release is the first with an included PGP signature. Project description: Snort is a lightweight network intrusion detection system, capable of performing real-time traffic analysis and packet logging on IP networks. It can perform protocol analysis, content searching/matching and can be used to detect a variety of attacks and probes, such as buffer overflows, stealth port scans, CGI attacks, SMB probes, OS fingerprinting attempts, and much more. Snort uses a flexible rule based language to describe traffic that it should collect or pass, and a modular detection engine. Snort has a real-time alerting capability, with alert mechanisms for syslog, a user specified file, a UNIX socket, or WinPopup messages to Windows clients using Samba's smbclient. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. Sincerely, freshmeat.net |

Hello Antonio Thanks, My Devil-Linux is coming along well, I am going to push for a Devil-Linux kit -- rather than a GNU/Linux distro -- as a support tool for other Linuxes. Politically, this will not be easy and I may wind up w/ my own support kit. If so, it will be called "enhanced Linux Systems Deployment" or the "extended Linux Society Distro" .. either way eLSD. I tried to install into savannah.gnu.org .. but being the socialists they are, I got too many headaches from their procedures. I may go back to the shifty capitalist Sourceforge until I get my own CVS going. I also seek to wrap the kit in Perl somehow, though Ruby is a much more inviting language tool for systems control. But then David Korn is my close friend and Java is where the money is... choices, choices... I happen to be typing on my Imac now, feeling truly schizophrenic at the moment, despite being unemployed I hardly have enough time to do everything. John Ps, greatest condolences on the world cup. I helped the NY Brazilian community turn NY's Astoria upside down. --- Antonio Gallo <ag...@li...> wrote: > In risposta a DANILLO DE MATOS MARCONDES del 15-Jul-2002 alle 15:12'19" -0300 > : > > Hi, > > I am trying to use the libhardware-0.7.0. This email is to inform you of release '1.5.19' of 'syslog-ng' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslog-ng/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version incorporates a couple of small bugfixes. Project description: syslog-ng, as the name shows, is a syslogd replacement, but with new functionality for the new generation. The original syslogd allows messages only to be sorted based on priority/facility pairs; syslog-ng adds the possibility to filter based on message contents using regular expressions. The new configuration scheme is intuitive and powerful. Forwarding logs over TCP and remembering all forwarding hops makes it ideal for firewalled environments. This email is to inform you of release '1.0.4' of 'Linux Virtual Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/linuxvirtualserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: Updating the state of a normal connection incorrectly in connection synchronization has been fixed. It might have lead to a negative server connection counter. All the IPVS time variables exchanged between user-space and kernel-space have been changed to the unit of seconds. ipvsadm has been updated to version 1.21. Project description: The Linux Virtual Server Project is an Open Source project to cluster many real servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server. The LVS handles connections from clients and passes them on the the real servers (so-called Layer 4 switching) and can virtualize almost any TCP or UDP service, like HTTP, HTTPS, NNTP, FTP, DNS, ssh, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, etc. It is fully transparent to the client accessing the virtual service. This has been done, but a few remarks should be made. dnscache produces a lot of output (for me its ok to have all the messages logged to syslog, but maybe someone finds that there are just too many syslogs entries) tinydns doesn't have that problem. when logging with a remote syslog the dnscache daemon, i've found a "deathlock". for each entry on syslog, syslog-ng tries to resolve the host that sends the log. so if you're using dnscache on the box with the syslog-ng server, you'll have to: a) use_dns(off) on syslog-ng.conf b) comment out the verbose output of dnscache (requieres modifiying the sources) how to use syslog-ng with dnscache/tinydns : /etc/service/dnscache/log# ls main run status supervise /etc/service/dnscache/log# cat run #!/bin/sh #exec setuidgid dnslog multilog t ./main exec logger -i -t dnscache the same for tinydns. just comment out the multilog option and use logger for loggin. -- -- Use of a keyboard or mouse may be linked to serious injuries or disorders. This email is to inform you of release '1.11a26' of 'cdrecord' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/cdrecord/ The changes in this release are as follows: The data structures were modified to allow for new features in the future. The speed= option no longer defaults to speed 1, but rather to a drive-specific value that is maximum speed for modern drives. A new test that prevents writing to CD-RW media too slowly was included, the DVD write speed is now displayed correctly, and preparation has been made for allowing the -dao option to work when writing DVDs. A bug that caused it to complain when trying to write to CD-RW media at 10x or faster was also fixed. Project description: Cdrecord creates home-burned CDs with a CD-R/CD-RW recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. Cdrecord supports CD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc and ATAPI/mmc compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel-port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CD-RWs (rewritable), TAO, DAO and human-readable error messages. Cdrecord includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD-writers.
