DL developers: I have added in iptraf and dhcpxd into my 0.5 distro here. If you want to put this in the devel release let me know. iptraf is pretty straightforward - its only a couple of binaries, and adds it in as a package. dhcpxd is tiny and is just placed in /usr/bin. i am not sure what your code submission/review procedures are... I also modified init.d/network script to look for a new var in the nic config files call DHCP_CLIENTD (or something like that) that checks to see what DHCP daemon it should use. if the var is missing or is not set to "dhcpxd" it just uses dhcpcd like normal. not sure if anyone is interested in dhcpxd but it works great for me since it has some special options that are good for cable modem users, like -nRR, that do a good job of keeping the same IP for a long time... it also places very useful info in the /etc/dhcpxd dir - which your firewall can look at and use i am gonna work on firelogd next if anyone is interested in it. -ed ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ |

This email is to inform you of release '1.99kb4' of 'Linux FreeS/WAN' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/freeswan/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release includes additional features that aren't considered mainline or haven't been tested extensively. This includes X.509 digital certificates, ALG 0.8.0 (All ciphers and hashes are enabled as modules), notify and delete SA, and NAT traversal. Project description: Linux FreeS/WAN provides IPSEC (IP Security, which is both encryption and authentication) kernel extensions and an IKE (Internet Key Exchange, keying and encrypted routing daemon) as well as various rc scripts and documentation. It is known to interoperate with other IPSEC and IKE system already deployed by other vendors such as OpenBSD, Cisco, or CheckPoint. It also features Opportunistic Encryption, subnet extrusion, and with the appropriate patches interops nicely with Microsoft Windows XP/2000 using X.509 certificates. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. This email is to inform you of release '2.1.12' of 'Cyrus IMAP Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/cyrusimapserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release includes a significant number of bugfixes throughout the distribution. Additionally, the master process includes pidfile and daemon-mode support, and the imapd.c module has undergone an independent security audit by SecurityAppraisers and Bynari. Project description: The Cyrus IMAP server is generally intended to be run on sealed systems, where normal users are not permitted to log in. The mailbox database is stored in parts of the filesystem that are private to Cyrus. All user access to mail is through the IMAP, POP3, or KPOP protocols. The private mailbox database design gives the server large advantages in efficiency, scalability, and administratability. Multiple concurrent read/write connections to the same mailbox are permitted. The server supports access control lists on mailboxes and storage quotas on mailbox hierarchies, multiple SASL mechanisms, and the Sieve mail filtering language. Hi all -- I have a be all to end all for these admin problems. One of the developers creates a frozen image of the LFS directory (in tar.bz2) and everybody downloads it with a wget shell module (that later appears in the etc.tar.gz download for non-security DL installs) I have more ideas on this... ;) Like -- DL website allows to you customize your etc.tar.gz ~thru~ a CGI page on the website -- with code hacked from the webmin package. True sales boost ;) but doesn't pollute the final product with look+feel enhancements Oh h*, I cant wait, gunna do it myself.. The new tar file for "LFS build system" seems to be incomplete.
I cannot "tar -xjf lfssystem-cvs-20030127-i486-stripped.tar.bz2
".
# tar -xjf lfssystem-cvs-20030127-i486-stripped.tar.bz2
bzip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly;
perhaps it is corrupted? *Possible* reason follows.
bzip2: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Input file = (stdin), output file = (stdout)
Thanks

This email is to inform you of release '2.01' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: Some bugfixes were made. Project description: SYSLINUX is a boot loader for the Linux operating system which operates off of MS-DOS floppies. It is intended to simplify first-time installation of Linux, rescue disks, and other uses for boot floppies. A SYSLINUX floppy can be manipulated using standard MS-DOS (or any other OS that can access an MS-DOS filesystem) tools once it has been created, and requires only a ~ 9K DOS program or ~ 18K Linux program to create it in the first place. It also includes PXELINUX, a program to boot off a network server using a boot PROM compatible with the Intel PXE (Pre-Execution Environment) specification, ISOLINUX, a program to boot off ISO 9660 CD-ROMs in native mode, and MEMDISK, a tool to boot legacy operating systems (e.g. DOS) using a Linux boot loader regardless of medium. Hey folks, I'm currently working including all needed programs into DL and get rid of build/config/copy_base.lst . Following example scenario: "man" needs "groff", groff is huge (9 MB), what should we do? - include it all on base system (DL minimum system requirement: 1 GB RAM .... ) - include it all on base system but make it available via "make menuconfig" (doesn't make much of a difference, most people use the standard ISO) - add it as package (dependencies will be a problem !) - any other ideas? -- Regards Heiko We are Penguin, resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |

I've used bison 1.35 (the same that comes with lfs 4.0) to compile oidentd without problems. is the current devil-linux cvs usable to build a working system, so i can try it? (i've read a post from you which says that cvs was not stable right now). i don't think that we'll get much support from the author of oidentd... looks like a configure setting on bison. -- -- Use of a keyboard or mouse may be linked to serious injuries or disorders. Hey folks, I'm currently uploading updates and a new LFS build system: ftp://ftp.devil-linux.org/pub/devel/sources/lfs_for_DL_0.6/lfssystem-cvs-20030127-i486-stripped.tar.bz2 The new LFS System is the current CVS version with gcc 3.2.1 and glibc 2.3.1 So far it looks good and only a few packages denied to compile: * wvdial (or better wvstreams) * oidentd (contacted author) & genpasswd (only used for encryption of packages, which we currentlyy no use) -- Regards Heiko We are Penguin, resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |
