This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.2' of 'distcc' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/distcc/ The changes in this release are as follows: The distcc scheduler was updated to keep servers more consistently loaded. A new server option allows IP-based access control in either inetd or standalone mode. Solaris and Cygwin portability has been updated. Project description: distcc is a program that distributes compilation of C code across several machines on a network, resulting in speed increases of 1.5 to 10 times. It does not require machines to share a filesystem, have the same libraries or header files, or superuser privileges. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. Sincerely, freshmeat.net |

If we can we should just put the necessary modules onto the ramdisk and onto the cdrom. This way we wouldn't bloat the kernel. BTW how much is a PenDrive when you'd buy it? Here I can buy an APACER Handydrive with 64MB for 40 EURO, 128MB for 60 EURO or 256 MB for 99 EURO. http://www.apacer.com/ does not currently work at the moment, so I can not provide a reference. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock FL226-RIPE Internetservices URL: http://www.fl.priv.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |

Hey folks, looks like the USB stuff is mostly included now. Ok, only devices supported by the vanilla kernel are currently supported. Only excemption is the SCM USBAT-02 CF card reader, which I happen to own. ;-) The current plan is to support USB storage devices in 2 stages: 1. saving the configuration on CF cards and pen drives 2. booting entirely from pen drives without any floppies or cdroms So I was thinking about compiling the USB chipset, USB storage driver and the needed SCSI support directly into the kernel. Does anyone has a reason why I should not do this? -- Regards Heiko We are Penguin, resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |

Hey folks, I just uploaded a new version of the documentation to the website. The 2 major changes are the inclusion of Friedrich's Software Raid HOWTO and a documentation from myself how to install a Lotus Domino v5 Server. The Lotus part could change a bit within the next few days. This email is to inform you about the release of version '3.1.6' of 'procps' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/procps/ The changes in this release are as follows: Minor changes and fixes were made, including a memory leak in top, support for "ps s" with the 2.5.61 kernel, and a fix for a rare crash when showing WCHAN. GCC 2.91.xx is now supported. ps can now select by PPID, watch can hide the title, and "ps -C foo" compares more characters. A 32-bit procps should be able to handle 64-bit processes on the SPARC64. The README was also improved. Project description: procps is a package of utilities which includes ps, vmstat, top, w, skill, snice, pgrep, pkill, free, sysctl, pmap, uptime, and kill. These utilities report what is running, who is logged in, how long the system has been running, and what is using up memory. They can be used to kill processes and change run-time kernel configuration values. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page.
