This email is to inform you about the release of version '3.0RC1' of 'Samba' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/samba/ The changes in this release are as follows: Active Directory support. This release able to join an ADS realm as a member server and authenticate users using LDAP/Kerberos. A new "net" command has been added. It is somewhat similar to the "net" command in Windows. Numerous other utilities (such as smbpasswd) will eventually be replaced with subcommands in "net". Better Windows 2000/XP/2003 printing support, including publishing printer attributes in Active Directory. New loadable RPC modules. Support for migrating from a Windows NT 4.0 domain to a Samba domain and maintaining user, group, and domain SIDs. Project description: The Samba software suite is a collection of programs that implements the SMB protocol for unix systems, allowing you to serve files and printers to Windows, NT, OS/2 and DOS clients. This protocol is sometimes also referred to as the LanManager or Netbios protocol. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.1.15' of 'Cyrus IMAP Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/cyrusimapserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release corrects a minor vulnerability in the fud daemon. It also fixes a significant number of bugs in the mailbox reconstruct tool, and has a re-implementation of arbitron for the current seen state format. Project description: The Cyrus IMAP server is generally intended to be run on sealed systems, where normal users are not permitted to log in. The mailbox database is stored in parts of the filesystem that are private to Cyrus. All user access to mail is through the IMAP, POP3, or KPOP protocols. The private mailbox database design gives the server large advantages in efficiency, scalability, and administratability. Multiple concurrent read/write connections to the same mailbox are permitted. The server supports access control lists on mailboxes and storage quotas on mailbox hierarchies, multiple SASL mechanisms, and the Sieve mail filtering language. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. What would happen if we don't turn on the SSP option in krb5 but leave it on in all the other scripts? Would that cause other problems with Kerberos? I won't do it until I hear back. - BS |

Go ahead and do it. Done. I also added a warning message and a 60 second pause if the release numbers are different, recommending that the media be upgraded. (if you don't like it, feel free to nuke it) I also fixed USB support which was totally hosed in the latest DL: First linuxrc couldn't mount the USB device, and I had to do a fake mount (-f) to get the usb-storage driver loaded before the real mount. Then pre_init couldn't mount the USB device with "-t auto" for some reason (weird), so I put it in a "for" loop trying all the valid filesystem types. Both USB problems were verified on VMware 4, and a real PC. (and now fixed! :) I also fixed the mount_cdrom script (when it fails and reboots), because the "let" command doesn't seem to be supported in ash. Also, the new busybox "reboot" doesn't work, so I let it crash. Hope you're having/had a great vacation! :-) - BS |

I was investigating a bit, the chroot jail for postfix should be functional in the current setup. The Bind chroot shouldn't be functional. Heiko |

It's in /sbin/pre_init You find this script in build/scripts/pre_init . I had to re-arrange the boot process quite a bit, to get the memory usage down. Heiko |

MSDOS allow me to put in 16MB, but no lower. "Other" still has a 32MB minimum. It seems to boot fine in 16MB. I can't try any lower on VMware 4, but that's fine with me. I've very happy with 16MB! > >>Yes I'm done with the boot script. > >>The shell we currently use has a very limited "read" command. > > > >Does ash support functions? > >The error message said it couldn't find the proc "ask_yes_no". > > > I don't know. It does. I have the script fixed so it copies to blank floppy now. I am confused about something else. Along with etc.tar.bz2, there is a new config file named var.tar.bz2. Seems logical ... except I cannot find anyplace where it untars var.tar.bz2 in the linuxrc script. Is it untared somewhere else, or did you forget to untar it? - BS |
