There are new examples for syntax highlighting, and documentation updates and fixes. Project description: GNU nano (Nano's ANOther editor, or Not ANOther editor) is an enhanced clone of the Pico text editor. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. I finally got an ISO to build. (whew :) However, I was bummed to find out that I cannot set the memory to anything smaller than 32MB in VMware 4. :-( What's the minimum memory usage down to these days? Also, copying the config files to a blank floppy is still broke. I can take a look at it, if you're done with the boot script??? - BS |

> Why is MySQL required for Snort? Because --with-mysql is specified on the ./configure line, duh! ;-) I modified the script so it only specifies that flag if MySQL is selected in the make menuconfig. I also added a --with-postgresql if PG is selected in menuconfig. Plus I checked OPENSSL_BIN and conditionally specified --with-ssl (although that appears to no longer be a configure option) - BS |

I had another abort on my limited selection config. Snort aborted because it couldn't find MySQL (not selected). I selected & compiled MySQL, restarted make build, and it finished. Why is MySQL required for Snort? |

They write in the Kernel config, that nothing like this happens. E.g. for HDD spindown, you have to specify this via the hdparm program. Right. > Don't you need a special daemon which puts the PC into sleep mode? I don't think so. I think it's done with the kernel & the BIOS. On my Redhat system, where HDD spin-down work, I have a process: root 3 1 0 Aug08 ? 00:00:00 [kapmd] But there is no binary for kapmd, so I think it's a kernel process. > Lets see if there's a program where we can turn that stuff off during > system bootup. I haven't looked for a long time, but there used to be a lot of selections you could make in the kernel config about what worked. I'm starting to wonder if this is a bad idea to turn on. Especially since APM is being replaced with ACPI, and Linux currently has poor support for ACPI. - BS |

I did some research on the web and of course Linux doesn't do anything without being told so. We just need to enable the APM feature in the Kernel, then we should be set.
