hi all
i try also to run devil from silicon.
i use a compactflash card (128mb) that works as hda.
1. i made some changes at mount_cdrom save-config and linuxrc to work on
hda
2. i made a single ext2 partition on the cf. 3. copy all file from cdtree
4. copy boot.b files and a binary lilo to /boot
5. start lilo by chroot
6. plug the cf in my embedded system
7. boot ...
and after some tests it does booot the kernel and load/execute linuxrc ....
at the monet i get a error message like this :
-------------------------

i have no idea why and what to do to fix it...
but i am lucky and it looks as our professionals work on a similar project
(usb-boot)
can you made the install-usb script so it accepts also hda1 ??
i help as i can ... but i am still not very deep in the sources of devil-
linux.
an other idea is to make a second partition for floppy if it is too hard to
change the scripts.

(because I couldn't find it in the tmp/lilo* directory) I copied mbr.b from the tmp/lilo* directory. OK, I installed the lilo RPM, and tried again.
Two new problems:
cp: cannot stat `/boot/mbr.b': No such file or directory
No clue what that file is, so ...
I commented out that "cp", and continued (with "sh -x"):
+ lilo -r ./tmp/mnt2 -C /boot/lilo.conf -M /dev/sdb
usage: lilo [ -C config_file ] -q [ -m map_file ] [ -v ... ]
lilo [ -C config_file ] [ -b boot_device ] [ -c ] [ -l | -L ]
[ -i boot_sector ] [ -m map_file ] [ -d delay ]
[ -v ... ] [ -t ] [ -s save_file | -S save_file ]
[ -P fix | -P ignore ] [ -r root_dir ] [ -w ]
lilo [ -C config_file ] [ -m map_file ] -R [ word ... ]
lilo [ -C config_file ] -I name [ options ]
lilo [ -C config_file ] [ -s save_file ] -u | -U [ boot_device ]
lilo -V
It appears like you're running an old version of lilo.
"-M" is no longer a valid option.
I removed the "-M" option from the lilo command, but I don't have
high hopes for this thing booting. :-)

I don't know, I haven't run it that far.
I ran it up to this point:
./install-on-usb
Available USB storage devices:
/dev/sda1
Enter device name (the partition) of USB device (i.e. /dev/sda1) ->
<CTRL-C>
It it detects /dev/sda1 that as my USB storage device, which
makes me REAL NERVOUS, since /dev/sda1 is my first SCSI HDD!!!
I really don't want it mkfs'ing my hard drive! :-)
My USB is /dev/sdb1 (stupid script ;)

It's a transparent virus scanning proxy for POP3 mail attachments. They are de-MIMEed and send to an external file virus scanner of your choice. I'd love to see it in Devil Linux. AFIK it's the only way to battle mail viruses if your POP3 mailbox and mail server is outside of your DL firewalled net and only POP3 clients are inside. Some features (exerpt from their web site): No client configuration necessary: Because POP3VScan is a full transparent proxy nothing but the scanning-server has to be configured. Fast scanning: POP3VScan supports the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Daemon (kavd) and the Trophie Daemon (which uses the Trend-AV Engine). Using kavd a Pentium-133 was able to scan nearly 500 mails in just one minute! deMIMEing: Since most scanners doesn't support decoding of MIME-Messages we have to do, for high-speed we have it built-in (using ripmime). Flexible scanner-configuration: Almost every scanner can be configured easily. Just set the capabilities of your scanner, the exit-code it gives when a mail is found and make a regular- expression which tells how to extract the virusname. Notification: Instead of the virus we send a notification to the client, which can be customized using a template. Written in C ...which means that it's faster than using a script-language. It's free POP3VScan is released under the General Public License (GPL), which means that it's free to use and also the source is available. Johannes Nieß j....@un... This reduces the size of the Kernel and allows easy addition of not supported drivers. But keep the most used drivers directly in the Kernel. I wrote a little script that compares files in the scripts/configuration directory with files in the scripts/ directory. Below are the packages that are _NOT_ optional in make menuconfig.
