This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.2.7' of 'Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/dcc-source/ The changes in this release are as follows: Whitelists have been added to greylist servers. Project description: Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse (DCC) is a system of clients and servers that collect and count checksums related to mail messages. The counts can be used by SMTP servers and mail user agents to detect and reject bulk mail. DCC servers can exchange common checksums. The checksums include values that are "fuzzy", or constant across common variations in bulk messages. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. > >Do you want me to install grub on DL, and write a install-on-usb > >script using GRUB with a boot menu and a horned-Tux background? > > Sure! Go ahead, would look much better ! OK, I modified the install-on-usb script to use grub. (your lilo code is still in there, and can be selected by changing one line in the script) Give grub a try and see how it looks and works for you! :-) I still want to rework some of the code so it detects the device file better (right now it's detecting my SCSI HDD as a USB stick). And there is one current limitation in my grub code. It will only work if DL is on the first partition of the USB device. I can change that if you want me to. Or we can make the first partition a requirement. Let me know which why you'd like it. > >> >I got a few misc. errors, but nothing that sounded too serious. > >> >It came up, I logged in, ran setup, ... everything seemed to work. > >> >(except my NIC module (3c2000) doesn't exist in DL - not surprised) > >> > > >> >Anything specific you want me to try? > >> > >> Do a save-config and reboot a few times. > > > >OK, I can try that tomorrow (LUG tonight, out of time now). > > Yeah I have SCUBA club meeting today. How many times do I need to reboot for it to happen? I did it a few times without a problem. One possible problem that people may run into is they do a save-config, and reboot with a power-cycle or RESET button. The buffer hasn't been written out to the USB stick when save-config completes. I recommend putting a "sync" at the end of the save-config script. > >> I had a corrupt file system, it couldn't load the modules.... > > > >I noticed you don't have the "ro" boot parameter in lilo.conf. > >Could that be the cause of your problem? > >(I put "ro" in my grub.conf and it didn't _cause_ any problems) > > Just try to do a save-config with the RO. ;-) It works fine. I booted up with the USB stick write protected. I then switched the USB to RW and ran save-config. save-config failed because the filesystem was still mounted RO. Then I ran a "mount / -oremount,rw" and save-config worked. Maybe you should check for that in save-config. If the root partition is RO, do a -oremount,rw at the beginning and a -oremount,ro at the end? - BS |

All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/samba/ The changes in this release are as follows: The code is very close to a final release, but remember that this is still a non-production snapshot intended for testing purposes. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.15' of 'which' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/which/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release adds support for automake-2.7.2 and autoconf-2.57. It also changes the way it searches for executables of the same name in PATH; it will now skip files that are not executable even though the "x" bit is set on group or others. This can happen because when you own a file only the owner permission bits apply, likewise for the group permission bits. This was actually a bug in bash (and still is), but some distributions have changed bash to this more compliant behavior. Project description: Which is a utility that prints out the full path of the executables that bash(1) would execute when the passed program names would have been entered on the shell prompt. It does this by using the exact same algorithm as bash. Tildes and a dot in the PATH are now expanded to the full path by default. Options allow to rather print "~/*" or "./*" and/or to print all exectuables that match any directory in PATH. This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.0.0-pre3' of 'BusyBox' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/busybox/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version features bugfixes and cleanups. Project description: BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small executable. It provides minimalist replacements for most of the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts. BusyBox provides a fairly complete POSIX environment for any small or embedded system. Ok once more. When telling jftpgw in its config file to run as user nobody it does try to create its logfiles as this user too. Instead it should create them as root and then switch to the configured user. That's how all other daemons do it. Mailed the author of jftpgw, so we'll see what he has to say about this matter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Friedrich Lobenstock (friedl) Date: 2002-09-21 11:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=38090 User nobody now exists. An we have a new jftpgw version. Now this jftpgw is braindead because when setting it to run as user nobody I starts creating the logfiles not as root and then changing the user. We and up with a non functioning jftpgw. So jftpgw has to be run as root :-( Will try to file a bug report with them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Heiko Zuerker (smiley73) Date: 2002-04-08 17:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=112133 @friedl This is still open, or? The user nobody is added to the system, but we'ld have to change some more, e.g. start script. ;-) I have no jftpgw running, so I can't test it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Heiko Zuerker (smiley73) Date: 2002-02-24 20:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=112133 user nobody and group nogroup are now existing ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410643&aid=521940&group_id=34096 |
