maybe i should explain... ive just unzipped the .dat files, and committed them to the cvs. tyhe aim of cvs is that YOU get the char select screen working.... one thing though. could i get you to move the graphics for it to a folder UNDER teh main graphics dir.?? something like graphics\select\ or soemthing...yeah... im gonna re-install win98, then ill set up CVS and take a look again. One last thing, it was taking me forever to upload the hard.dat and the map.dat, so I zipped them into a much smaller size. Once you update the ddmodd, you'll want to unzip those onto the old ones. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com |

Okay, I've finally gotten this thing working. I believe we now have our first update in ddmodd. Included are couple of new (temporary)graphics, placed in the graphics folder, as they have been added to the dink.ini. Go ahead, update and try it out if your curious. And, of course, everyone is free to change it. _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com |

ok, my polytech course starts this monday, 5 days a week, but only in the second half of the day. Im also getting a ripped version of amaya, so HOPEFULLY, i can help out with the simple art models. Glenn, what tools do you use?? because i dont think i could texture my own work, especially with the textures having to be a certain palette and all... i was wondering if maybe i should send you some of my amaya art, so you can either use it or not as you see fit. of course, this depends on several things: like wether i can get amaya working, and how easy amaya is to use. how skilled i am, and how much time i have spare. so yeah. just to let you all know:-) -- Thomi Richards th...@im... http://ddmodd.sourceforge.net/ Thomi Richards, th...@im... |

I don't think we all need to know what is happening with cvs. But if we could set up a website that has all the log entries or someing it could be good. I have finally returned from my much needed vacation. It's good to see that we've gotten another artist. Hello, by the way, Glenn. A female hero would be a pretty darn cool in my opinion. Besides, if we have more than one new hero we should at least have one be female, if that won't be too hard to do. I'll see what I can't do with a character selection screen. It sounds like it shouldn't be that hard. I'll just set you up with a basic screen, nothing fancy. BTW, Phoenix best of luck to you and Sharp (I assume you're the same one in the Dink Network News). _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com |

ok, ive just added a folder to the CVS repositary, for all teh New Art. so Glenn will place it in there, with nice filenames (no spaces plz Glenn, things like "Vik-building00.bmp", and "Vik-building01.bmp"), from there someone will add it to the dink.ini, in its own sequence directory, and ill do the depth dot stuff myself. then we should be able to use it in the game! -- The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux. Welcome aboard Glenn, our new artist.Hopefully this should kick start this project, so we can get something done :-) Im looking foreward to seeing what we can all do. which leads me to my second point, we need that character select screen now guys... it doesn't have to look good yet, just sort of work. i thought you'd keep the mouse enabled, and use it to click on one of three charecter portraits, then, depending on which one you clicked on, a different description text would pop up (this would actually be another sprite, which i can make with the GIMP). then the user would click the start button (or whatever it is called), and they would then be starting the game, at a pre-determined map start point, depending on what charecter they chose. the main char sprites would have to change depending on what they picked aswell (obviously). 'someone' was working on something like this a wee while ago, but he dissapeared, so could i ask Sabretrout and Phoenix, and (if you want to) Striker to work on this for me?? i cant remember the starting positions just yet, but you shpould all have the CVS up and working by now, so just pick three random valid values, and use them. Yeah... ive asked Glenn to give us some buildings (the viking ones), so we'll incorporate them into the scene, and ill start building the first area. then we'll need heaps of scripts, so the scripters should be standing by :-) well, i think thats about all.. i also think that this effectively ends our previous discussion :-) WELCOME ABOARD GLENN!!! (everytime i write 'Glenn', i think of Chrono Trigger :-): Glenn: "Our lives hath not been for naught!!" ahh dear..the memories... :-) -- On July 9th, Support the Counting crows and buy their new album, "Hard Candy". Yes, the female character wouln't be a huge change, but it *would* help us differentiate the game from the origanal Dink. What does everyone think about roughly following the LotR mythology? I don't think that the main character being a female would change that much, and not necessarily a good reaction. I think both ur other ideas are ok but not really what we were looking at doing with this dmod, they would both be rather hard to make(i presume) ----- Original Message ----- From: <ddm...@li...> To: <ddm...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 5:17 PM Subject: [Ddmodd-developers] The Hero... or Heroine? > I think the main character should be female (with realisticly proportioned > anatomy).
