I think the main character should be female (with realisticly proportioned
anatomy). This would help us hype it up, by trying to make it seem on a
completly different scale to other D-Mods... I also think the barbarian
shaman is a good idea, another thing we could do though, is try to steer the
game towards mainstream (Lord of the Rings) mythology. I think this would
also help make the game seem different to the others (I see most Dink
variants looking rather rouge, as developers take after the creater).
One of my random ideas: the character is a god or godess, and can
comand people what to do, you are part of a religion(as a god or godess),
but you can gather followers and break off to wage war against the other
god's or godess's in the religion. Probobly too complex for the Dink
eingine, but I always thought it was a cool idea.
The last idea I will write about here is something similar to The
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, on the N64, a cycle of a week (with day and
night), and people do different things depending on what time it is in the
week, then, at the end of the week, depending on what you have done, things
turn out differently. Of course, you would have to be able to travel back in
time, and manipulate how fast and slow it goes (to soame extent). The main
problem with this idea is there couldn't really be a proper ending, unless
there was a main quest you could do that had a different ending depending on
what you had done during the week. Every tmie you finish a little quest, it
would have to be saved, as there is so much to do, thay even if you knew
exactly what to do, it would take eleven (game) weeks to finisg completly...

Well first things first, a new hero!! I don't think we should have dink as the hero. How about some sort of Barbarian Shaman who must unite a load of tribes or something? Just a thought... Sabre |

Hmmm.... I still think that the best option (if no new artist suddenly appears) is to just change some aspects, like monsters, hero, npc's etc, and leave the scenery pretty much alone. If we go through it fast, then we could make it bigger and bigger... Sabre |

I agree with Sabre, but if the rate o fprogress was good, then we could move onto making it bigger, and that would mean that eventually, if everything didn't work out, then we would still have accomlished something, and if it soes... well, we have pretty much what we originaly planned. I'm just thinking out loud here... if our chances of actually succeeding at something even remotely similar to our original goal is impossible, there still is the value of being with sourceforge. If Thomi, or anyone else, writes a dmod, he might be able to use SF as a download mirror, or if one wants a smaller-scale collaboration, then SF is a good thing to be attached to. If the project is not doomed... well then ignore the above. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx |

OK, this is an important email, and should be read by all. this is also a vote. the outcome of the vote will decide teh projects future. THe problem: Artsts. or lack thereof. the arist we have, i can never get in contact with (reuben??), and probably has way to much work to help us with anything anyway. Possable solution: advertise more. risk people losing interest int he project, and the peoject failing. on the other hand, we can use the pre-existing graphics, which means that we can all start doing something now, BUT we wont produce anything like the hype we have been building up around the dink network (or trying to, anyway). the third solution, is to start witht he pre-existing graphics, and then switch the buildings and the like. this will (IMHO) be VERY hard to do, as the new buildings will have different dimensions etc. etc. so...what do you think?? i would like everyones input into this. I guess i should also mention that i have just had another person contact me fr more details into the artist job. this si teh second enquiery since i posted it. IM not so HO, i think we should hold out for two weeks more. then, if we can get no artwork out of reuben, AND we cant find another artist, we should either scrap this project entirely, or make it with the pre-existing graphics, and NOT change later. any other ideas?? -- Gee, aren't signatures great?? ok, this is a little sad... Nate went in for intravenous surgery a wee while ago. he came out, and everything appeared fine. he then had to go back in for emergency operations, which, in the end cost him his right arm (or the use thereof). so, im sad to say that nate will not be continuing on with this project.
