Not sure about elsewhere, but here the Native stuff only works behind the firewall, but DAVMail works on either side, functioning like "Outlook Anywhere" in essence. My understanding, from mac users in my workplace, is that mail.app in snow leopard supports exchange well natively. As a Linux user, Davmail has been a godsend since we moved from Exchange 2003 to 2007.
