It would be great if davmail would also support activesync (and not OWA), so that davmail can be used to access email on exchange servers that only enable activesync. It would allow one to read mail on any server where one would be able to read mail with an iphone or android device.

There already is a exchange activesync testtool available that runs on a pc; see

Well, this is already on the roadmap:

However the implementation is complex and in addition ActiveSync is subject to Microsoft patents.

I would very much appreciate ActiveSync support, since my company email server only supports this one protocol. I see that it is on the roadmap for a next Davmail 4.x release. Is development already started or are there still major blockers like patent issues?

Patents are indeed still an issue. In addition you don't need DavMail on mobile / tablet if your Exchange server has ActiveSync enabled: you can use native client.

As recent Microsoft clients rely on EWS to communicate with Exchange, most company servers now have EWS available.

Keeping this in the roadmap, quite complex to implement though

Is there any hope to get activesync support. I need it badly.
