Distributing davmail as a flatpak (possibly on flathub) would allow it to run on several different linux distributions as well as provide consistent and timely updates for end users. It also provides a consistent and predictable runtime and java environment.
My current scenario is I use the .deb for Ubuntu, and the .zip file for Fedora.
I'm glad to have the .zip file for Fedora, but it takes a little more work to install and/or upgrade.
Using flatpak/flathub would allow running the same package on both Ubuntu and Fedora (as well as several other distributions) and simplifies installation and updates for end users.
There are other linux cross distribution packaging mechanisms, but flatpak seems to be in the best shape. For example, see:

Pull request to distribute davmail on flathub is here:

Mickaël, if it gets accepted, a new github repo will be created for the flatpak packaging files, and I'm happy to give access/ownership to you if you would like.
Thanks, I don't know anything about flatpak, so please go ahead on this.

I think this can be closed since davmail is available on flathub now:
