A) patience is a virtue B) Try my prior suggestion (re-download CSCMailInstaller.pl I fixed a bug in it since your first post to the list) C) If there is a messed up lib on your system (or missing) then the C version won't work either. D) If you still have problems, post the FULL error message (we can't help without knowing the errors) E) CSCMail DOES work on Caldera (and RedHat, and Debian, and Mandrake, and *BSD and Solaris, get my drift yet?) You post to the list, asking for help... A few hours goes by, you don't get help, you give up. Pretty sad.... -CZ |

I have some problems with the installation script : it encounters apparently some difficulties in installing Gtk ... It download the tarball without any problem, but then, trying to install the libs within, I get a bunch of error messages. The last ones are : make : *** [xs/GtkXmHTML.o] Error 1 Done, firing up the GUI ... *Click on the "go" button ...* Using Freshly built Gtk to build GtkXmHTML Can't call method "set_text" on an undefined value at CSCMailInstaller.pl line 536. Can't upgrade that kind of scalar during global destruction. And that's gone. I'm working on a Caldera 2.4 distribution, and Perl 5.005 is installed. Does this version of the kernel have some problems with Gtk ? Thank for help ... and if definitively, the problem comes from a crappy installation of something on my system, then I'll hunt another E-Mail client. I would be disappointed, 'cause apparently, you guys did a great job on this one. |

The only reason it is not 1.8.x is that I haven't finished the migration scripts yet, and I am hunting a few other lil bugs. (Nothing major) To uninstall CSCMail, it depends on if you chose the RPM or Tarball installation method. If you did RPM, simply RPM -e cscmail This will NOT remove the perl modules. To be honest, I am not sure how to un-install perl modules... the CPAN module can install, but not un-install If you used the tarball installation method, then simply delete /usr/local/bin/csc* and /usr/local/lib/cscmail also nuke ~/.cscmail* -CZ |

Hello, I have a problem while reading the messages because when i click on a message when trying to read it the cscmail window close and an error message appears: "Can't locate object method "new" via package "HtmlStripper" at ./cscmail line 6917." Can somebody tell me how to avoid this error. I installed the cscmail 1.6.1 and i downloaded all the perl modules that requires but the htmlstripper seems not to find it. Hi, A couple of little things that are just annoying me right now: 1. When I click on an attachment to save it, the save window pops up with the filename of the attachment already filled in the box at the bottom. Great. But if I navigate to a different directory, the filename box then goes blank and I have to retype the filename. Tiny but annoying! 2. Spaces seem to be deleted for no reason! If I am trying to, say, do an ASCII diagram, excess spaces which I type appear to all be removed to leave a single space! Well, that's how it appears in the outbox anyway. HIGHLY ANNOYING! For example, here I am trying to do a pricelist which adds up, let's see how it comes out: (the numbers should all be vertically lined up on separate lines): item 1 5.50 item foo 6.00 blah 10.50 ----- total 22.00 2) appears to be another problem with the editor. After our discussions before about wordwrapping, I am getting slightly more used to this way of doing things (softwrap then hardwrap on send) but I would still REALLY like the definite bug whereby if you save the messages as a draft and then re-edit it, all the wordwrapping goes crazy and you end up with alternate short and long lines. Cheers guys, Tim |

I upgraded 1.6.1 to 1.7.8 as suggested by stevek. Now attachemt can be saved but it can't be diretly viewed. If someone is using cscmail and staroffice then i want to know how should one define the command(path) so that attachment can be diretly viewed. i had given folowing: mime-types: application/vnd.ms-excel command: /opt/Office51/bin/soffice but it just opens staroffice desktop nothing else(not the attachment). how should one define the command(path) so that starcalc and starwriter application can directy invoked so that i may view attachment directly. sanjay kumar san...@us... ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 |

In view attachemt , cscmail is not showing the attached file. It is not showing the attached file in what manner? Does it show a menu with a list of attachments? Then when you click "View" it simply shows a dialog with three entries? The top one contains the MIME/Type (application/vnd.ms-excel I would assume) and the other two are blank? If so, simply use the browse button to find your star office executable (mine is "~/Office51/bin/soffice". Yours might be different) and then all should be fine. If you are not getting the "View Attachment" dialog with the "Mime-Type:" "Command" and "Icon" entries, then there is something else going on... Once you have registered a viewer for a given mime-type, the next time you choose to "view attachment" of that mime-type, you will not be prompted with the dialog, it will simply launch the viewer automagically. -CZ -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Kordik st...@vo...
