Hi all, SourceForge moves from MySql 3.x to 4.1. Therefore, I started the migration to the new database. Doing this I screened the content of the web pages as well. The "links page" already references v3.66. It also mentions 4.11 - where is the download for this version or what is the intention of this version number? This is somehow confusing. Cheers Mathias |

Hi all, It's a shame I cannot dedicate any time to the development and enhancement = of CryptoPad, but it is with great satisfaction that I see it is not dead y= et :-) Thank you Ross for your dedicated support in maintaining the project and th= ank you Andr=E9 Michel for your very welcome additions to the source code. Please, feel free to ask any details you may want, but you probably do not = need any. I wish you all the best. Cheers. Maxime. |

I think I have reached Milestone One (without Jog Dial as I still haven't downloaded the SDK to compile against. Beam, DIA, Send and 5-Way Nav all seem to work OK. Bye for now Andre |

I have added Beam/Send support in by adding modified code from CryptoPad 4.07 sources downloaded from PalmGear. I have altered them to hopfully support the Send command as well as beam. I have uploaded and tested it on a Sony Clie with Palm OS 4.1 and it all appears to work properly (no BtLib so send can't be tested). Once I upload it onto my Zodiac running Palm OS 5.2 it generates a MemoryMgr.c, Line:3655, NULL handle error on startup. I think this is something to do with the way I have split the segments of code as once the beam code was added the code segment was too big. Bye for now Andre |

I have caught up with the state of play with the versions of code in CVS and have continued to get the re-size code working properly. In testing I have noted a few issues with the EventCrack.h and have repaired them to make Cut, Copy, Paste etc. work properly. I would like to be able to check the code back into the tree. If any of the project admins for this project are still monitoring this list could they please either consider adding me as a developer (SF ID = amgauthier ) or allow me to send them a CVS diff to update the repository themselves (granting access would be preferred as I would like to continue working on the code and see if I can get it working (this has been an interesting experience so far as I stopped using C over 5 years ago and am surprised at how much is still in my head). I have been attempting to patch the Cryptopad code with the PalmResize library to make it work properly on my new TapWave Zodiac. I have bene using CryptoPad since my first IIIxe and can't stand it not working properly with the wide-screen mode. I have checked out the code from the CVS repository and have discovered that there appears to be no code to encrypt the memos present. I wish I had noticed earlier as I have made some good progress with the modifications and would hate to have to start from scratch or abandon them. Could some one please let me know either what I have done wrong or where I can obtain the correct code tree. Bye for now Andre Gauthier |

Any compiled version of cryptopad which will allow me to reuse my existing database on the mobile device? Or some other trick? One idea would be to get a PalmOS 4 rom image which would allow me to hotsync (which doesn't work for my Visor image nor the PalmIII image I could get from a colleague's device) or to mount a directory as a virtual expansion card. If I'd copy the CryptopadDB to the mounted directory, would I be able to install this file to my Visor? Thanks in advance, Tobias -- (please ignore the silly footer...) |

Hi, Thanks for your interest in CryptoPad. Please, be aware that CryptoPad v4.0x is *beta* software. We are indeed aware of this problem, and have decided against maintaing CryptoPad v4.09 due to too much issues and stability problems. Rather, we have planned to create an improved version and have set up an open-source project for it. Unfortunately, the development is not as quick as it should be, because many developers on the project haven't much spare time to dedicate to this. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks for your (very thorough) feedback. Cheers. Maxime; > > Hi there, > > I don't know whether or not anyone has taken care of this one. Hi there, I don't know whether or not anyone has taken care of this one. This is = a serial bug which seems to keep several folks from using CryptoPad at al= l (e.g. me, but I'm not the only one). I'm afraid I'm not a Palm programm= er; I signed up to get the problem posted ;-) I have long and happily used CryptoPad 4.09 on my Handspring Visor Neo (Palm OS 3.5.2H). Unfortunately, it is of little use to me now, since I= cannot use the program any more on my mobile device. The following happ= ens: 1) when I start CryptoPad, PalmOS crashes immediately. The crash hack I= use informs me about the error: DataMgr.c, Line:6317, Invalid uniqueID pass= ed I can reproduce the error with PalmOS Emulator (no non-standard softwar= e besides CryptoPad installed). This yields the same error, some more in detail: CryptoPad (4.09) called SysFatalAlert with the message: "DataMgr.c, Line:6317, Invalid uniqueID passed". With the emulator, however, I'm able to continue; this seems to be impossible with the mobile device. However, when I continue with the emulator, I notice that the error doesn't happen again. 2) When I leave CryptoPad (of course, this is possible only with the emulator...), another error occurs: "Found 1 memory leak for CryptoPad (4.09). Information concerning the l= eak can be found in the log file.". This one I noticed with the Visor ROM image only; the first crash occur= red to me with a PalmOS 4.0 image as well. 1.b) When I just perform a search without first starting CryptoPad, the= message is: CryptoPad (4.09) called SysFatalAlert with the message: "DataMgr.c, Line:5964, Invalid uniqueID passed". followed by (when clicked on 'Continue'): CryptoPad (4.09) called SysFatalAlert with the message: "StringMgr.c, Line:67, NULL string passed". When I continue to choose 'Continue', CryptoPad keeps trying to write t= o low memory addresses. Of course I'd prefer not to send my database (which seems to be related= to the problem); but I did my best to create a useful log file: (See attac= hed file: crash_log.zip). I don't know if these informations are sufficient to find the bug; I'd happily give you more, but, as I mentioned before: I'm not a Palm programmer. Is there something I can do to get it running again? Any Program I can throw my database at? Any compiled version of CryptoPad to download? Hi Cryptopad developers I've just checked cryptopad out of SourceForge's CVS and successfully compiled it. I notice it identifies as version 4.5. I also notice from the docs the suggestion that there have been some significant changes between this and version 4.09. Can someone clarify - is the SourceForge version an evolution of 4.09, or is it a radical departure from the previous code? Peter |

Well, I have turned the application into a single segment application (modifying the .def file and calling build-prc without multigen) and the problems are the same. We definitely have a problem accessing the global variables of the application from specific points in the program. For the time being, the development is stuck. I still don't understand what's wrong with the code, and I'm confident we've done things properly. If anyone can enlighten me on how to solve this, I would really appreciate it. Cheers. Hi there, just wanted to point you to our poll at http://cryptopad.sourceforge.net/ If you look at the figures for operating systems http://cryptopad.sourceforge.net/polls.shtml?action=results&poll_ident=7 we have users, that work on LINUX. Therefore, I'd also suggest the wxWindows version if there is no hard restriction to use it. > However, I think it is important to be able to at least offer the choice > of a Palm-Desktop integrated application. Sure. wxWindows is open source, so you can do anything you want with it. I'm just suggesting wxWindows, because it allows for anyone to run the Desktop app, not just Windows users. -Ross |

I don't know about wxWindows, but will have a look at it. I seem to recall that it has already been mentioned somehow.
