    CompPad 0.5.15 has option to set and read user field values, and also supports double equals signs which displays substitutions as well as the result.

    Yes, I was wondering if that would be a problem. The setField command sets a user field value. You should see the value if you go to "user field". Maybe I need to add another option for field type, or maybe it's possible to create a user field for your application?

    Update: I think I found the issue....

    I believe the two issues you had (Unable to set a "set variable" field value, and unable to hide the final answer) are fixed in the newest version.

    CompPad was not correctly finding the existing "set variable" field names. This is now fixed.
    The syntax you showed for substitution isn't supported. However, the syntax in the attached screenshot should do what you need. I added support for "phantom" on the right side of the equals signs. You will have to evaluate it once, and then add teh phantom keywords as shown.

    i hope it will be supported in the future

    example:
    D := 10

    supported.
    A_s  := {pi*D^2)/4
    A_s  := {pi*D^2)/4 ==
    A_s  =
    phantom{A_s} =

    not  yet support
    A_s ==
    phantom{A_s} ==
