I managed to finally get to the bottom of this. It was a bizarre cookie issue when authentication was enabled, and how IE blocked access to the cookie where-as Firefox didn't. Please try using the attached codestriker.js in your html directory and let me know if it works for you now.. it fixed it for me. Hi Rick, Can you try the attached codestriker.js file, replacing what you have in your install? This fixed an issue I had with IE on a system where authentication was enabled, but I couldn't reproduce the issue you are having. What version of IE are you using? Hi; Please enhance CodeStriker to clearly differentiate intra-line differences We frequently have changes that are very slight and are even more frequently intra-line that are very difficult to visualize. For example: a typo correction: "my $setnence = 12345;" compared to "my $sentence = 12345;" This example might be trivial, but consider a more complicated example in a statement 60 or 90 or 120 columns wide or a text literal. This enhancement might require a more advanced difference engine for the CM tool specified, but I don't think so. I believe that tkdiff can do this and several other graphical text difference applications. Thanks, Ken Wolcott |

I haven't had much luck fixing this one... for now if you disable logins (comment out $admin_users in codestriker.conf) then IE users will be fine. Its a weird issue - there are MS bugs out there, but none of the workarounds have fixed the issue for me. I can see what is happening. For some reason under IE, it is not sending the cookie with the posted comment (which is done via AJAX), where as it is under firefox. The cookie contains the authenticated token. As a result, its redirecting the AJAX request to the login page... which is why everything is getting stuck under IE. You have to love how different browsers do things differently.. Cheers, David On Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 4:47 PM, David Sitsky <dav...@gm...> wrote: > Yep - I can see this too now. You should have the following javascript files in that directory: codestriker.js overlib_centerpopup.js overlib_draggable.js overlib.js xbdhtml.js Can you access the following URL from your browser? http://fm6swww012/codestrikerhtml/xbdhtml.js Does the same issue happen with firefox? Maybe if you can send me the html output from the main page as an attachment, I might be able to see an issue in the html itself. David/Rick, Not sure if I'm seeing the related error (couldn't see your error message) but when I try to post a comment using IE I get a javascript error as well. If I have the "Disable script debugging" unchecked in your IE settings I get the following error. A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to debug? Line: 393 Error: 'null' is null or not an object If that option is checked, CodeStriker simply sits there with the comment window with "Receiving Response" I have no problems with this in Firefox. Codestriker 1.9.7 is out and can be downloaded from http://codestriker.sf.net. Here are the list of changes. Cheers, David * Introduced basic user authentication / authorisation into the system. If the $admin_users configuration variable is specified in codestriker.conf, this contains a list of "admin" users. If defined, admin users are the only ones who can create/edit/delete projects. * Created another Subversion post-commit script which is an extension of the standard commit-email.pl script which ships with Subversion. The email sent also includes an additional line, which is the URL to the auto-created topic. * Updated install.pl so that it can be executed from any directory, not just bin. * Creating Perforce topics directly from already committed files in the depot did not work if the depot was on a different machine to the web-server. This has now been fixed. * Fixed an issue where some Perforce describe diffs were not being parsed correctly as reported by sha...@gm.... This has now been fixed. * Added a drop-down on the topic create page where the initial topic state can be set. By default, this is set to "Open", however in situations where a review has already been performed but needs to be recorded, or a topic is automatically created from a post-commit script from an SCM, sometimes another initial state is desirable. * Updated install.pl to support a separate Apache virtual host per Codestriker project as suggested by dm...@us.... Manual has been updated with the appropriate instructions. * Help popup text windows on the create topic and search screens disappear automatically when the cursor is moved off the (?) link. * Fixed a bug where Subversion diffs with binary files that contained property changes were not handled correctly. * Make $file_viewer more flexible so it can handle file mapping URLs which have CGI parameters. Submitted by va...@us.... * Scmbug integration now works correctly when there are multiple commits to the same file under the one Bug ID. Fixed by rob...@us.... * ScmBug integration now works correctly when deleted files are present in a Subversion changeset. * Added "Diff" link for each comment on the list comments page so that for those reviews which aren't linked to an SCM, it is still possible to quickly link back to the coloured topic text. * Fixed the rendering of non-latin characters when syntax highlighting is enabled. |

Hi David,
Sorry, last email wasn't to clear!
I log in as admin, I click Log In, then 'create a new account'; I
still get the message: "This function requires admin access."
Thanks,
Andre

I'm confused with what you are trying to do.
Which user are you talking about (new or admin user) and which screen
are you going to? Please tell me the steps you are doing.
Yes - I haven't done a log out yet - basically your cookie remembers
you login name. If you want to change users, just go to the login
screen again and enter the new user you want to become.
Cheers,
David

No, it says 'This function requires admin access.'
And I'm just querying usertable and the user I'm using has admin = 1;
Another thing I realized is that there's no notion of logging out (I
thought that by clicking Log In it would automatically log out, but it
doesn't seem so). How's codestriker knows who's logged in? I even
restarted Apache and it kept my previous user logged in. How can I
check which user is logged in?
Thanks again,
Andre

If you click on the "Log in" link at the top, then click on "create
new account" - won't that do the job?

Thanks for the prompt answer David.
That worked for blocking non admins to create a new user... but how do
I access codestriker.pl?action=create_new_user after I log in as an
admin?
Thanks again,
Andre

Hi Andre,
That's an interesting use case - in theory you just need to update the
appropriate Method classes in lib/Codestriker/Http/Method to have the
following in them:
sub requires_admin {
return 1;
}
See CreateProjectMethod.pm as an example. This indicates that only
the admin user can perform this method.
In this case, you'd probably want the AddNewUserMethod,
CreateNewUserMethod and NewPasswordMethod methods to be admin only.
Cheers,
David

Hi David,
I've downloaded 1.9.7-rc3 and this is working now. Thanks!
A question regarding this version's user management. Right now, anyone
can access codestriker.pl and create a new account. Is there a way to
let only admins create a new account for users? I'm thinking this
shouldn't be too hard to implement, but my pearl skills are close to
nil, so I have no idea how. :)
Thanks,
Andre

Hi David,
Thanks for your email - I've committed it in. 1.9.7-rc2 will have
this change in it.
Cheers,
David
