Yes - reviewer-specific "metrics" where a reviewer can say, I'm done makes sense. It is on our list. I think it also makes sense for users to be able to configure email alerts, similar to how Bugzilla does it. However I wonder about the "spam" type button - if a review has say 20 comments, the email will be quite long and I suspect hard to read/digest. Wouldn't it be easier for a reviewer to just go to the comments tab of the topic and work through each comment one-by-one, and changing the comments state to "Completed" when they have handled it? Hi Andre, There has been a feature request for some time for this. 1.9.7 will have the proper notion of a user in the system, so user email preferences might come around for 1.9.8, where this sort of things could be implemented. For now, all emails are threaded by topic, so with a decent email client and filters, you can save all codestriker emails into another folder besides your inbox, with all messages related to a single topic going into a single thread. Hi! As far as I understood it, codestriker sends an email to the original submitter every time a reviewer posts a comment. Is there a way to pack all these comments in one email? Like, when I'm done reviewing? Is there a way of telling the original submitter that I'm done reviewing and he should start looking at the comments? (btw, these are all the same question) Thanks, Andre |

Sorry - this was my bad.
You can easily fix this if you edit lib/Codestriker/AddNewUser.pm, and
change two lines:
$smtp->mail("codestriker");
and a bit further down:
$smtp->datasend("From: codestriker\n");
On my system, it wasn't a problem to use codestriker, but obviously on
yours this is an issue. I'll make this configurable in the next
release so you can set the email address to use when codestriker sends
out these kind of "admin" emails.
As an example, you could make them (set the domain part right for your system):
$smtp->mail("codestriker\@myhost.com");
and a bit further down:
$smtp->datasend("From: codestriker\@myhost.com\n");
Please let me know if that fixes thing for you.
Cheers,
David

Strange - can you try 1.9.7 again, this time with $admin_users commented out in your codestriker.conf file? Cheers, David On Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 11:15 AM, Andre Rubin <and...@gm...> wrote: > Yeah. It was removed intentionally - more out of laziness than anything else. Basically, in 1.9.6 there was a massive amount of refactoring to the delta rendering code so that it is now all template toolkit generated, which makes it far easier to customise. This is why syntax highlighting could b easily implemented for example. I basically didn't bother re-implementing the Line XXX links, since I figured the parallel versions gave the same info, and you could always horizontall scrolly our browser window to view either the old or new file.. Hi Ben, It should be possible - any CVS diff you create should be rendered correctly - the catch is defining your Codestriker repository correctly. If you like - email me an example diff and your codestriker repository setting so I can check it out. I'm not sure if this is what Himanshu is referring to, but I happened to notice something when going from 1.9.4 to 1.9.6 that may be related. There used to be two links at the top of the diff -- "Line xxx | Parallel" -- each of which opened the entire file with the diffs integrated. The "Line xxx" link would open only the before or after; the "Parallel" link would contain both. Now the "Line xxx" text is not a link. I liked having that link, since it opened a narrower window showing only the side I wanted to look at. Was this removed intentionally? Is it configurable? I can view the diff and the full file with changes highlighted
if I use a diff from code that is already checked into CVS.
Is it possible to use a diff between the HEAD and changes I
have made in my sandbox and view the full file with changes? When I
attach the diff file I don’t get the “Parallel” link.
Thanks,
Ben

Yes you can delete it - it accidentally made its way into the distribution when we were experimenting with syntax highlighting. I'm trying to update to 1.9.6. Somehow, a file called highlight.css appeared in the top directory. I'm not sure where it came from, since the tarballs for 1.9.4, .5, .6 do not contain this file. Those are the three versions I've been playing with. Where did this file come from? Is it safe for me to delete it? Thanks, David |

That sounds strange. Has $mailuser been set to "codestriker" by any chance? Does the same think happen if you try to create a brand new user? I like to install the new version of CS to a path that coexists with the
deployed version, allowing me to test new features, integrate my own changes
and make sure they still work, etc.
To do this, I have two entries in my httpd.conf file, one for the deployed
version
http://<host>/codestriker/...
and one for the test version
http://<host>/codestriker_tst/...
I also have to change codestriker_css in codestriker.conf for the test
version, since the URL will include the "_tst" suffix. One place where this
does not work (1.9.6) is the calculation of the help URL (doc_url). The
diff below shows how I fixed it. I'm not sure why the greedy "?" qualifier
did not work correctly, but the result for me is $htmlurl becomes "http:"
and therefore doc_url is wrong. My solution is simpler, in that you do not
need a greedy qualifier.

When I access codestriker.pl, it asks for a username and password. Since I'm not sure which password it is talking about I click on Create New User. When I try to use my email address it complains that the user already exists. Then I type in my email address in the appropriate box and hit the Reset Password button. That's when I get the aforementioned error. Apache's error log has the same message. My $mailhost, $mailuser, and $mailpasswd are set correctly, with our mail server, my email and pass (that was I why I was asking where does it get the user "codestriker" as sender? Could it be from $dbuser?) Can you give more information as to exactly which screen it is you are doing this from? What values are you putting into the fields? Have you set $mailhost in your codestriker.conf? Dear Codestrikers, Version 1.9.7 is almost ready for general release. RC1 of this release can be downloaded from http://download.nuix.com. Below are the list of changes: Cheers, David * Introduced basic user authentication / authorisation into the system. If the $admin_users configuration variable is specified in codestriker.conf, this contains a list of "admin" users. If defined, admin users are the only ones who can create/edit/delete projects. * Created another Subversion post-commit script which is an extension of the standard commit-email.pl script which ships with Subversion. The email sent also includes an additional line, which is the URL to the auto-created topic. * Updated install.pl so that it can be executed from any directory, not just bin. * Creating Perforce topics directly from already committed files in the depot did not work if the depot was on a different machine to the web-server. This has now been fixed. * Fixed an issue where some Perforce describe diffs were not being parsed correctly as reported by sha...@gm.... This has now been fixed. * Added a drop-down on the topic create page where the initial topic state can be set. By default, this is set to "Open", however in situations where a review has already been performed but needs to be recorded, or a topic is automatically created from a post-commit script from an SCM, sometimes another initial state is desirable. * Updated install.pl to support a separate Apache virtual host per Codestriker project as suggested by dm...@us.... Manual has been updated with the appropriate instructions. * Help popup text windows on the create topic and search screens disappear automatically when the cursor is moved off the (?) link. * Fixed a bug where Subversion diffs with binary files that contained property changes were not handled correctly. * Make $file_viewer more flexible so it can handle file mapping URLs which have CGI parameters. Submitted by va...@us.... * Scmbug integration now works correctly when there are multiple commits to the same file under the one Bug ID. Fixed by rob...@us.... * ScmBug integration now works correctly when deleted files are present in a Subversion changeset. * Added "Diff" link for each comment on the list comments page so that for those reviews which aren't linked to an SCM, it is still possible to quickly link back to the coloured topic text. * Fixed the rendering of non-latin characters when syntax highlighting is enabled. |
