I only had a chance to test on one machine, but it wan't quite right. Eth1 was the interface with link, but the new code showed eth2 and eth3 instead. Mii-tool on another vt shows eth0 down, eth1 up and some kind of error on 2 and 3 so perhaps this wasn't a normal situation. Hi Les, This is a good idea, and it's already added in http://opensource.nchc.org.tw/clonezilla-live/testing/clonezilla-live-1.0.7-9.iso Could you give it a try ? Thanks. Steven. Would it be possible in a future version of clonezilla live to use mii-tool to show what NIC(s) have link up before the user is asked to pick which one to use - or perhaps some visual indication could be added to the menu choice. Different linux kernel versions tend to detect the NICs in different orders so it is difficult to guess the right one the first time if the machine has several. Also it would be nice if you could return to that choice if you pick dhcp and fail to obtain an address. -- Les Mikesell les...@gm... |

Yes, I think it is possible, however, you have to deal with the md devices first. Once you have that, just mount it as /home/partimag. Then run "ocs-sr -x" to save or restore the image. Steven. Yes, it's possible. rename the file name in image dir, say, hda3.xxx -> hdb2.xxx then when you restore, remember to choose "-k", which will NOT re-create the partition table, and maybe "-r", and "-t". You just have to know what you want or not. Remember to backup the data in the target device! It's always worthy to do that. Good luck. Steven. Hi all I was wondering is it possible to restore a partition to another, which has= a=20 different device name? Confusing right? So here's what I mean. Suppose I backup partition hda3 (my /data) Then I want to restore this partition into another disk (another system=20 actually), but the partition I want to use as /data is hdb2. Of course, hdb= 2=20 is bigger than hda3, and they both are ext3 Is this possible? Do I have to manually change anything to the files contai= ned=20 in my image? PS. Hi, In this release, linux kernel 2.6.22, ntfs-3g 1.913 and ntfsprogs 2.0.0 are used. Besides, Partimage 0.6.7_beta2 is used, which included a patch from Thomas Tsai for blocks per group is non-32768 in filesystem ext2/3. An option "-o" was added to tune the menu in ocs-iso and ocs-live-dev. Please give it a try if possible, and report bugs or give comments. Thanks in advance. -- Steven Shiau <steven _at_ nchc org tw> <steven _at_ stevenshiau org> National Center for High-performance Computing, Taiwan. http://www.nchc.org.tw Public Key Server PGP Key ID: 1024D/9762755A Fingerprint: A2A1 08B7 C22C 3D06 34DB F4BC 08B3 E3D7 9762 755A |

Hi Spiros, Yes, you are right. It's better to create that directory by default. Will do that in the next release. Thanks. Steven. Hi Spiros, The dir is not changed. Check your /opt/drbl/conf/drbl-ocs.conf OCS_PRERUN_DIR="$DRBL_SCRIPT_PATH/share/ocs/prerun" OCS_POSTRUN_DIR="$DRBL_SCRIPT_PATH/share/ocs/postrun" If your system does not have that dir, you have to create it manually. HI all I'm running 1.0.5-7 (Clonezilla-SysRescCD 1.1.0) The directory /opt/drbl/share/ocs has become /opt/drbl/share/drbl, making t= he=20 restore script (ocs-sr ?) unable to execute prerun and postrun scripts. Hello, =20 First of all, thank you for this awesome piece of software. =20 I=92ve been using clonezilla-live for a bit without problems, just for = testing or playing :-), but now I=92m trying to use for something a bit more = serious and I have a doubt. =20 I don=92t want to use DRBL, as we already have a PXE server working, so = when I try to boot clonezilla-live via pxe, it fails. =20 I found it uses nfsroot to mount the root partition, but our server is = quite unstable when using nfs so we have to avoid using nfs as much as = possible. =20 Can we mount root partition via samba (or cifs) during boot, or could we have the partition embedded in the image pxe serves via tftpd? =20 Thank you. =20 Ivan Pereiro. |

Clonezilla 1.0.5-4 (testing) and 1.0.5-4-nk-1 (experimental) released. Now the version number is synced. The same version means same programs except the newer kernel and ntfs-3g are used in "-nk" files. Some new features and bugs fixed: - cciss device (Ex. Compaq's SMART Array Controllers) is supported. - Symbolic image file (Ex. hda1.aa is a link file) is supported. - Two more options were added for ocs-sr: -o0 & -o1 (=-o before), which allows us to run programs in $OCS_PRERUN_DIR and $OCS_POSTRUN_DIR. - Package pcmciautils, ncpfs, Packages dvd+rw-tools and udftools were added. - Based clonezilla 2.2.0-8, partimage 0.6.6 and Debian 4.0r1. kernel 2.6.21-2 and ntfs-3g 1.913 are used. - Bug fixed: nfs-common should be installed so that lockd can work. - Bug fixed: A error when mounting samba server as clonezilla home. - Sync the version number with experimental branch. With extra "-nk" (newer kernel) for experimental version. 1.0.5-4 will be in the stable branch if no other bug were reported in a few days. Hi, Clonezilla live 1.0.5-4 or later should work for cciss device: http://opensource.nchc.org.tw/clonezilla-live/testing/clonezilla-live-1.0.5-4.iso http://opensource.nchc.org.tw/clonezilla-live/experimental/clonezilla-live-1.0.5-4-nk.iso The same function is in Clonezilla 2.2.0-8 (now in unstable branch), you can try to upgrade that if you are using clonezilla server edition (DRBL server). Could anyone here give it a try and confirm that ? The patch files are provided by Ron Kelley. Thanks to Ron. -- Steven Shiau <steven _at_ nchc org tw> <steven _at_ stevenshiau org> National Center for High-performance Computing, Taiwan. http://www.nchc.org.tw Public Key Server PGP Key ID: 9762755A Fingerprint -- A2A1 08B7 C22C 3D06 34DB F4BC 08B3 E3D7 9762 755A |

Followed the steps from "Create a common use Clonezilla Live USB flash drive, which can be used to save or restore an image", and it worked, taking care of one circumstance: The loop-mount of the then downloaded "debian-live-for-ocs.iso" will fail if done on a virtual filesystem ("ioctl: LOOP_SET_FD: Invalid argument"), leaving you without a kernel on your USB drive afterwards. Working on a "real" filesystem on the second partition of my USB-HDD while executing "/opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-live-dev -s -d /dev/sdb1" got me around this. Maybe this is worth a note? Kind regards and thanks for an awesome project, Jens |

Dear all, is there an HOWTO or some hints on how to install the GParted-Clonezilla-LiveCD to an USB-harddrive (not: stick)? I'm thinking of a setup like this: * Boot from partition 1 (i.e. /dev/sdb1) of the USB-harddrive, which holds the Linux system and all the Clonezilla/GParted stuff. * Restore and save your disk-images to partition 2 (i.e. /dev/sdb2) of the USB-harddrive. I tried the mentioned steps for USB sticks, without any success. So my question is: Anyone did something like this? Kind regards, Jens |
