Hi , Could somebody help me find out how can I save an image through my home network. I have an ubuntu (computer B) and a winXp (computer A), I 'd like to send the image of Computer A to B via the home network. How can I mount my destination linux partition through network when using Clonezilla Live CD? Thanks Zoltan -- http://mbicomp.com/ |

Dear all, I hope someone can help me out on this one: when I restore a clonezilla image to a completely new harddisk, the disk is accessible (USB attached, or as a secondary harddisk) but windows refuses to boot from it. When creating an image, I leave all options at default values. I created both partition and device images. When restoring on a blank disk, I restore from the device image and leave all options at their default. After restore, windows refuses to boot. When I follow the exact same procedure on a harddisk which had windows on it before, windows boots. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks, Jürgen |

Please show the complete steps you ran in Clonezilla live so that it's easier for us to see why it failed there. Not sure if you meant Clonezilla SE or Clonezilla live. For Clonezilla SE: Yes, you can try to use a newer kernel, or try to compile the driver for your ASUS machine. Once it's done, you can run: /opt/drbl/sbin/mknic-nbi -k "$KERNEL_VER" Where "$KERNEL_VER" is the kernel version you have compiled. For more info, please run: /opt/drbl/sbin/mknic-nbi --help For Clonezilla live, maybe you can try the alternative testing: http://clonezilla.org/download/sourceforge/alternative-testing/iso-zip-files.php Steven. IIRC, the partclone will show error messages about this. Could you give the latest Clonezilla live (e.g. 1.2.3-27) a try? Thanks. Dear all, Two major enhancements were added in the testing Clonezilla live 1.2.4-3, i.e. 1. To save and restore FreeBSD/NetBSD/OpenBSD. It has been successfully tested for FreeBSD 8.0,OpenBSD 4.6 and NetBSD 5.0.2. 2. XZ/Lzip compression, and parallel compression, pxz and plzip, were added. You can choose "-z4", "-z4p", "-z5" or "-z5p" in the expert mode. If your machine have multi-core CPU, please use the i686 version of Clonezilla live (e.g. clonezilla-live-1.2.4-3-686.iso) then the -z4p and -z5p options are available in the expert mode. If you can, please help to test the above new features. Bugs report and comments are very welcome. Is there a way to put a driver into the clonezilla server so it loads when a client boots from PXE? I have two sets of laptops that I am trying to multicast. One set are gateway laptops with either Broadcom or Intel NIC's. The others are Asus netbooks with an Atheros NIC. I am able to work with the gateway ones just fine but when I boot the Asus netbooks I can not get an IP address and get this error "Only IP addresses offered by this DHCP server will be accepted: Unable to obtain IP address viz wired link [eth0]!" then goes on with more "Fatal Error: Failed to mount root filesystem!!! Please check..." I am running kernel "2.6.31-19-386". Maybe there is a newer kernel that would support this Atheros NIC? Either that or could you please post instructions on how to add in a driver? Thank you, Zach Biles |

Hardware support is up to the underlying version of linux that you are booting on the client. You might try downloading the ubuntu-based clonezilla-live image, boot from that, and if it works with the hardware in question, manually connect to the drbl server for image access. -- Les Mikesell les...@gm... |

I know that "the destination partition must be equal or larger than the source one". But if it isn't true, Clonezilla does not print any error message (that can help you). I'm using an old release of Clonezilla (1.2.1-17) but perhaps this problem affects also the latest version. In my case Clonezilla completes immediatly the operation but without writing anything (it only corrupts the partition). Regards Fabio -- . . , _ |

Hi, I have an issue with a multipart save disk that I have unable to restore and was wondering if the DRBL/Clonezilla community can help. An image has been taken using Clonezilla, via DRBL, with the q2 option and to use dd. When it came to the save disk option for multiple volume files was used and 2000 set. Now I have 31 dd-img files with the suffix aa-be plus a number of smaller files. When I try to do a restore the folder these files are found in is not listed. I've attempted to put the img files together with cat using information found on the forums and documentation with no success. Using the command file ./had1.dd-img.aa tells me it is a gzip archive but when I do the same on hda2.dd-img-ab it says data. Is there anyway I can get these files back together to do a restore? In that case, maybe you have to compile the driver and put that for your PXE client. Did you try that? BTW, do you have any reason to use etherboot instead of gPXE or the builtin PXE from the NIC? I believe you can: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdd bs=446 count=1 (replace /dev/sdc as your USB flash drive device name) Please use this command very carefully. It might destroy all the data if you input something wrong. Yes, you'd better to backup all the data before you do so.
