No.. not as far as I know... I guess you are it! :) haha I may be able to show off XDebug if there is interest... I've been working on installing it today and learning how to use it. I had lunch with Marco (and Arbi and Santor (sp?)) of php|architect on Tuesday. Lunch was interrupted quite a bit by a crisis back in the php|arch office and we had no Wi-Fi, so it ended up being less productive than it should have been... Still some good progress has been made! As the first news item on the php homepage shows: http://php.net/ Rasmus Lerdorf and Chris Shiflett are names I heard people asking about. No sign of Andi or Ze'ev yet, though... Name brand people also giving talks: Andrei Zmievski (Unicode) Ilia (PHP5 release master, FUDForum) Sara Goleman (extension writing textbook) Some quick updates: They said sessions and tutorials still have a few places they could cram things in, but they look pretty solid to me: http://hades.phparch.com/ceres/public/tek/page/index.php/schedule NOTE that the tutorials are on a day EARLIER (MAY 15) than the published date of the Conference! Don't be fooled if you want to go to a tutorial to get yourself up to speed. Also note that there are still sponsorship opportunities available: http://hades.phparch.com/ceres/public/tek/creative/sponsorships.pdf Get your company's name "out there" in the PHP community for a pretty reasonable price. This may be the only big-time PHP conference you can attend with no travel expenses, and no hotel expenses, so I cannot encourage you to go enough. There is even talk of a Chicago PHP User Group discount, though no numbers have floated by yet. I'll push on this some more at our next meeting and via email. Finally, they did say that they MIGHT be able to use a "couple" of volunteers for stuff like registration and whatnot. Since I expect we've got way more than a couple volunteers in the queue, how about sending me a link to an online resume or, alternatively, a custom one-page "Why I should be the Chicago PHP User Group Volunteer" at php|tek" essay or whatever. I'm looking for a single web page, to be compared side-by-side, to somehow make an objective decision. You also have to be a member who has actually shown up for meetings at some time in the history of the PHP User Group. I think that's all for now. -- Some people have a "gift" link here. Know what I want? I want you to buy a CD from some starving artist. http://cdbaby.com/browse/from/lynch Yeah, I get a buck. So? |

Depending on your data structure and mysql version you might be able to use a sub-select taking only Agencies 'having' 2 or more CMHSP records. Failing that, you'd have to separate your code from your rendering (a good idea anyway) ... do a simple record retrieval into an array and maintain a counter, then only display records that have 2 or more CMHSPs Forgive me I've so long ago written a mysql db object that I don't remember the native calls off the cuff ... while($db->next_record()) { extract($db->record); // dumps all the fields to local variables $records[]=$db->record; // preserves your record set that you'll later iterate $CMHSP_counter[$agency][$cmhsp]++; } Now in your view you have the same processing loop you have though you test for $CMHSP_counter[$agency][$cmhsp] > 1 for your optional code. Optionally, you could also put the 'if' statement around the array assignment such that only records tripping the threshold are put into the $records array ... What exactly are themes? I have used several PHP-based message boards, and have just modified the default theme to the colors I want and done everything else (layout, logos etc) by modifying the header and footer files. How does this differ from themes? I guess I'm not sure what their purpose is, and don't know how to easily find an explanation. My overall site is basically hand-coded and mostly static, I've added PHP features as I've learned them. I would like to convert it to a true CMS. The format is a hybrid of portal/newspaper style as best I can describe. So far it looks like Drupal is a good fit. I know there was a Drupal talk recently, is there a summary anywhere? Any recommendation on going with 5.0 RC vs. 4.7? Also I've found two books, Building Online Communities With Drupal, phpBB, and WordPress by Robert T. Douglass, Mike Little, and Jared W. Smith and Drupal: Creating Blogs, Forums, Portals, And Community Websites by David Mercer. I'm currently using SMF for a message board. Which book is better for starting out? Thanks! Janine |

Somebody might want to pick up a few spare bucks if they've got some downtime: -------------------------- Original Message -------------------------- Subject: RFQ From PHPUserGroups.org From: je...@jh... Contact Name: Jeremy Huson Company: JH Business Systems Email: je...@jh... Hi, I am interested in having 3 files rewritten, the first is the original Paypal ipn which takes values from Paypal and posts them into the database, the next post.php is what happens when the user posts an advert, however the advert is posted on the site and the activation link is sent by email even if they dont complete the payment, the third one is the worldpay template for callback, what I need doing is taking the part out of the post.php where it sends the activation link to the user, and put that into the callback script so effectively the advert is posted to the database but they will not be able to activate this until they have completed payment. There also needs a tiny bit of cgi script written to take values back from worldpay so they site knows who to send the activation email to (maybe some kind of session id needs to be used). If you want to see how the website works at the moment then visit, www.viraltree.com and if you click Post Ad on the top left and just enter anything then you can follow the process through Phone: 07704600789 Please send your response to je...@jh... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi folks, Slightly off-topic, but I'm looking for a graphic designer to de-uglify my sterotypical programmer's lack of artistic skill on a personal project. This is a small (less than a dozen pages), low-key (think Craigslist) site: http://nearbygamers.com. Yes, I'm paying. Please feel free to forward this message to any designers. I'll give plenty more details if they drop a line, just didn't want to clutter up this list. - -- Peter Harkins - http://push.cx - http://cambrianhouse.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.3 (GNU/Linux) Comment: If you don't know what this is, it's OK to ignore it. iD8DBQFFdjS3a6PWv6+ALKoRAsA3AJ4nC+xVEhdiWccv5rdmHN2TVhXxYQCcCz+s 6iCMp47pMBihs7O5ORkGvdg= =rLma -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Gotta have portfolio, references and ability to work now. This is a *project* not a full time gig, so if you're moonlighting, that's OK by me. I'm a middleman of sorts here, just sourcing talent, though the project is for my employer. If you are, or know such a person, contact me off list *today* ... tomorrow or Monday isn't fast enough. Amy Minick sent this to me -- I know nothing more about it: Pathfinder Associates is looking for an experienced and passionate PHP Developer to join our application development team. This position will collaborate with business analysts, interaction designers, and other developers to build innovative web applications. We could go into a lot of requirements for this position, but ultimately what we're looking for can be boiled down into one sentence: We're looking for radically strong developers who want to stretch in new directions, who can speak and write as well as they email and IM, and who play well with others. That being said, we do need to state a few requirements, such as: § Knowledge of PHP 4 and PHP 5 § 3+ years PHP development experience § 3+ years experience writing XHTML, JavaScript and CSS from scratch (hand-coded) § Firm understanding of OOP programming techniques (classes, inheritance, variable scope, singletons, factories, structs) § Experience with Drupal or other PHP content management software § Experience with Movable Type or other PHP blogging software § Experience with various frameworks (symfony, cakePHP) and libraries (PEAR) § Experience with templating (Smarty, Savant, or other) and MVC application design § Unwavering devotion to your red Swingline stapler § Ability to travel up to 25% § Available to start (somewhat) immediately These skills aren't required, but they certainly will make you look good: § Experience with Linux and Apache § MySQL DBA skills § Configuration management skills Why Work for Pathfinder? At Pathfinder we believe that since you spend one-third of your life at work, you may as well enjoy it. We strive to provide stimulating work for our employees, in atmosphere that's friendly, challenging and supportive. Because we're a smaller firm, we're able to notice, recognize and reward exceptional achievement. Perks of working at Pathfinder include medical and dental insurance, tax-free transit benefit, and casual dress code. The biggest perk, however, is the recognition that you have a life outside the office. The Fine Print Compensation will be commensurate with experience. We regret that we cannot pay for relocation expenses or act as an immigration sponsor at this time. Please, no phone calls. To Apply Send all cover letters and resumes to us at ca...@pa..., using Reference Number 7477 in the subject line. For more information about this and other opportunities, please visit our website at http://www.pathf.com. -- Some people have a "gift" link here. Know what I want?
