Sometimes we have yummy mexican food instead of pizza ... :) Usually there is a projector -- though I think it's someone's personal projector (Richard?) as opp. to official chiphug equipment... oh, and an awesome view of lake m, really breathtaking, so if Richard's demo goes off-track you can watch the ships come in... Hi all, I am trying to find more information about your php user group meetings. There are 2 different locations listed on the site. The homepage: http://chiphpug.php.net/ And the links page: http://chiphpug.php.net/links.php I assume the homepage is correct. Is the meeting scheduled for 03/21/2007 still going to happen? Is there an agenda for the next meeting? I could not find any information on the mail list archives related to this date, but I did find notices that where in the archives for the Feb. meeting. Thanks in advance, -- /** * @author Larry E. Masters * @var string $userName * @param string $realName * @returns string aka PhpNut * @access public */ |

We can increase price up to 200-250% in 2 weeks and also we can increase capacity by 10 times each trading day. You don`t have to pay anything in beforehand. First we increase the cost and the volume, then you pay. Payment: Our cost for that is 10% from the daily capacity. We calculate it by the following formula: last price * daily volume. Hi-- I apologize for the off-topic post, but I know that there are a lot of PHP developers who are or have been Perl developers. My current employer is looking for someone with around 5-10 years of development experience, who wants to program in object oriented Perl, and who has a good understanding of relational databases and SQL. If you're interested, please email me at caitlin at caitlinhowell.com. Thanks, Caitlin |

I honestly couldn't be happier with 1and1.com. I have 10 domains under one account and am paying $3.00 a month for 10gb of space, 300gb transfer and 600 e-mails, their webmail system is pretty nice too. They offer php4 and php5 (you can pick the right one through your .htaccess file) and they have been very good with customer service. They're also fast, most things taking about 10 minutes to complete even new domain setups. Their control panel is very complete but it's a bit hard to figure out exactly what you want to do (be careful with things like blogs as it tends to redirect the whole site, make a subdomain - free). They offer things such as google site maps and submission, DNS manipulation (registrar contact, etc), and all the standards. They are also a registrar and charge about $6.00 a year per domain, and if you point domains to your account those are free. For $3.00 a month you only get one FTP account that is predefined their other packages offer much more. Everydns.net does good with DNS and they are free (donation-ware). I've used them in the past, and haven't had any availability issues with my sites. Dyndns does web registration and I know they have managed DNS services as well (for dynamic or static ips). This is costly service in my opinion, as you can run a DNS servers for virtually nothing if you already have internet servers. And when Godaddy or Yahoo Business run their gimmick promos, you can register domains for very little. One more note about EApps, my experiences with their reliability and support haven't been the most pleasant but they are good on the tech side. I guess HE would be my top recommendation. Linode is another provider of virtual dedicated. As are EApps. EApps has a web-based control panel. Hurricane Electric is rock solid. I've used them for years and have no complaints. The service is good, but sometimes lack flexibility with their managed services (e.g. if you need an apache configuration change, they wont do it if apache needs to be restarted). Also, http://www.pajunas.com/ is good, located in Minneapolis. Haven't used them much, but they cater to developers. Personally, I took the plunge and colocated a server. Its much less expensive for the service, and you have a lot greater flexibility with hardware and system configuration. Hope this helps. P.S. If you want to tell me who your favorite domain registrar is, too, please do! I've transferred all my domain registrations to Dreamhost, so I'll have to move those, too, before I can cancel my account. My requirements there are full control over the DNS record, and a low registration cost because I own a lot of domains! Hi folks, It's been quiet on this list lately, no? I'd like to ask the perennial favorite question: can you recommend a good web host? I've been a big fan of Dreamhost for five years, but their arrogance in the last year in spite of continued reliability problems is making me eager to switch. For my personal sites, I need an account that can support at least ten domains and offers good control over PHP configuration settings (at least .htaccess and maybe php.ini) and has a well-designed control panel. For my clients, I need a host that can perform well under lots of traffic, won't go down several times a year, and responds to support requests quickly and courteously. Someone recommended site5.com to me recently and I'm checking that out. I've used Rackspace a few times and would happily use that for everything, but most of my clients can't afford it. I could get one Rackspace account and move all of my clients onto it, but I don't want to get into any kind of reseller relationship. I just want to introduce my clients to reliable hosts that won't make me look bad. Thanks! -Arlo _______________________________ Arlo Leach 773.769.6106 http://arlomedia.com Find.
