You may already know this, but many radio hosts would like to receive and integrate into their stream a live Skype (or other VOIP) caller. I do it with a mixer. But I've seen many, many posts online by people who probably are not buying a mixer and who desperately wish to take live skype calls, play music or add sound from their computer--but without a mixer--into their icecast/shoutcast stream. I have people in my non-profit org right now who would like to broadcast on our network and would do it if all they need is their computer and a headset device. These are the people who can use this feature.

If you enable this natively in BUTT it will be the only icecast encoding tool (that I know of) to expressly support skype live interviews on icecast without a physical mixer (or a complex mixture of virtual audio devices and internal routing).

Presently, in BUTT you take the audio only from an input or "Microphone" type of audio device. If you simply added a second audio device selector for "Speaker" device and labeled them as such and allowed both audio streams into the BUTT audio mix, that would do the trick. Simply put, it would allow the inclusion of whatever sounds (on the computer) that can be played/heard AS WELL AS what is going into the microphone or input channel.

This scheme is already happening in the open source video encoder called "OBS" or Open Broadcasting System. Look at it and you'll see that it can listen to both speaker and mic channels:

Attached please find a mockup image of how I would recommend adding it to the BUTT Settings tab.

Sounds like a job for Jack Audio Connection Kit. Butt already interfaces nicely to Jack. [http://www.jackaudio.org/]
