Hi,

I've been able to reproduce this issue on a few computers running official Icecast 2.4.4 builds for Windows.

It'll connect up on the first attempt after luanching butt but stop and reconnect again in the same instance and you'll get a "Could not create network socket" error before butt crashes. I installed 0.1.31 and the issue is present there as well. I don't believe it was present prior to 0.1.30.

The latest Icecast KH (2.4.0) does not appear to be affected.

Thanks in advance for taking the time.

Just to further note, butt was running on the same computer as the Icecast servers and was connecting up via the localhost hostname. It didn't seem to be an issue connecting to the same Icecast server from a remote computer.

      Hello Dave,

thank you. I will take a look at it. In the meantime can you try if it makes a difference when using "127.0.0.1" instead of "localhost" as address?

      Best,
      Daniel

        Hi Daniel,

Apologies for the delay. I can confirm that the problem does not occur when using 127.0.0.1 or my LAN IP - just localhost.

The two computers I tried it on is the streaming computer at a community radio station I work at and my home PC; two different networks. The station PC is running 20H2 and my home PC is running 21H1, if that's any help to you. Hopefully you'll be able to replicate the issue on your end, with the latest Xiph Icecast build.

        Thanks for looking into it.

        Best,
        Dave

Hello Dave, thanks for testing. I am now able to reproduce it on Windows and I think it has something to do with the change on how name resolution works. I have changed this few versions ago to support IPv6. Please simply use the IPv4 address until I found out how to fix this.

          Best,
          Daniel

I was able to find and fix the issue. The fix will be included in the next version.
