Bob, The list subscriber known as "Alma" was asking the moderator to unsubscribe them from the list, not instructing you to do so. As a fellow subscriber and long-time Usenet user, I can assure you, most of the time you will see this sort of message sent by folks who are confused about how to do this for themselves. If you have already received a message from bitpim-list-owner which explains this, please disregard my interruption. On 10/08/2011 04:16 PM, Bob Whittington wrote: > Alma, > > Why do you want me (and Daniel) to unsubscribe? And from what > service? What did either of us do wrong? Alma, Why do you want me (and Daniel) to unsubscribe? And from what service? What did either of us do wrong? I followed all of the directions on the bit-pim and source-forge sites. I asked a question. Gave all of the appropriate information. Got a valuable response. And sent a thank you reply for it. Your e-mail request to unsubscribe has a flag stating "important mainly because of your interactions with messages in the conversation" as the reason to unsubscribe. What the heck does that mean? What interaction???? What conversation????? I asked a question. I got a valuable response. I said thank you and explained the steps that I took. 3 e-mails. No conversation. Neither one of us were inappropriate. We were both on topic. So what is the problem? I fail to see an issue with that. But apparently you do. Please let me know what you think either of us did wrong. I will be happy to unsubscribe from whatever list to which you are referring once I have justification for doing so. Since it is the only support option for the BitPim program, and I have no idea who you are (or what you have to do with this): I will wait for some justification from you. Without support, why would anyone want the program? Thanks for your attention to this matter Bob On Fri, Oct 7, 2011 at 10:58 AM, Alma Brenda Campos <abr...@ao...>wrote: > Unsubscribe please > > Sent On Devilas KICK ASS Fone ;)* > Samsung Galaxy S 4G <3 > I Love It! ;) > > Bob Whittington <imw...@gm...> wrote: > > >Daniel, > > > >Thanks so much for the help! > > > >I had to try several different ways of getting the .dll to be recognized. > I > >finally just copied one from another location into the BitPim folder. > Then > >it said it couldn't find msvcp71.dll. Daniel, Thanks so much for the help! I had to try several different ways of getting the .dll to be recognized. I finally just copied one from another location into the BitPim folder. Then it said it couldn't find msvcp71.dll. So I copied that file as well. That seems to have fixed it. I can at least get the program to start. Now I am going to try it out. Thanks again. I have the latest version of software downloaded direct from BitPim. The program recognizes my phone with no problem, I am just trying to "Get Data from Phone". I have downloaded to it twice before. I have tried rebooting my pc, re-downloaded software, turned phone off and on, tried different usb plugs. Suggestions? To the BitPim Support Team: I have a Sprint Kyocera SCP-3820 phone and wondered if I could use it with BitPim. That particular phone isn't listed but I thought it might be similar enough to one of the of the supported phones so that I could recover my images stored on the phone. I hope BitPim will be adding this phone to the list of supported hardware. Thanks... |

To the BitPim Support Team, I have a weird question.... I learned about BitPim from a YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-i5yay31qc In said video, he downloads what looks like '1.0.5 Official Version'; and I think I see it working with the LG VX9400. I downloaded and installed 'BitPim 1.0.7 Official Version'. The problem is that BitPim does not work for me with the VX9400. It starts to work, but no information is gleaned. This is the weird part: The VX9400 is listed in the online help: BitPim Online Help built 17 January 2010 ....as one of the 'phones that the Developers want'. VX9400 is not listed as a supported phone in the BitPim documentation for version 1.0.7. What's going on???? Thank You...... ________________________ The screen is hungry... feed it! |

First, bitpim 1.0.7 can be compiled from source on your machine, just make sure you have the kernel source packages first. Need help, email me. Secondly, the problem with ports being unavailable is because of permissions. You COULD do it the right way (way too long and complicated), or you could just do it the easy way like I do....open a terminal, switch to root ("sudo su root") and then launch bitpim from the terminal ("bitpim"). What happens when you backup and replace the inbox folder from the filesystem view? Might be worth a try. The inbox folder is in the SMS folder. I have an LG VN250 and it's how I've been reading my texts since I broke my display not too long ago. I recently bought another LG VX8350 phone (for Verizon) from EBAY. I then wanted to transfer some SMS text messages I had on my old VX8350 to my new VX8350. Importing my SMS messages from my old VX8350 into BITPIM worked perfectly. However when I try sending/burning these SMS messages to my new VX8350, they never appear on my new phone. I don't receive any error messages or exceptions, however BIPIM does reboot my phone at the end of the sending/burning sequence (not sure if this is normal). When Bitpim asks me which data to send to my phone, I can only select "Replace ALL" SMS messages, the option of "ADDING" is disabled. I am running the latest version of BITPIM from a PC with Windows 7. I've tried different USB ports, 2 different data cables and 2 VX8350 phones, all experience the same issue. I would appreciate some advice. Thanks |

Hi, I read several old postings related to support for the Toshiba VM4050, more specifically for the retrieval of media files such as audio and pictures. I'm wondering if there is any progress on that. In the past, the way to retrieve pictures was to use a service provided by Sprint called "PCS Vision" but that was dropped, so there is no other official way to retrieve these pictures. Many thanks in advance. Daniel |

This is both a query soliciting solutions and a suggestion for developers if I have not overlooked an easy solution. I have BitPim version 1.0.7 running under Windows XP Pro and connected to a LG VX9100 (env²). It works fine. When I export from the SMS or the call history log the date comes into the *.csv file in the format _2011-07-26 01:17pm_ (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mmam/pm) which unfortunately does not sort correctly as it is a text sort. If the export format were _7/26/2011 01:17 pm_ instead it still would not sort chronologically correct (in fact, as a text file, it would be worse) *BUT* (and that's a big but) it would both import and sort correctly into Excel or MS Access which would be a huge plus. It would save a lot of time massaging the csv file to archive the data in the correct chronological sequence. Thanks for a nice product even if a bit of a challenge to initially decipher if things don't go well. I still haven't figured out how to search the archives so I apologize if this has a well known solution that I just don't know yet. Hi, Finally I figured out the problem. The cable I was using is defective, so I took another one and it works!!! However I'm still trying to figure out how to use bitpim, is it possible to retrieve the pictures from the phone? I quickly browsed the filesystem and I don't see any known (by me) graphic files with externsions such as jpg, etc. Do you know if is possible? Many, but many thanks again! What do the following two commands produce when the phone is connected? $ sudo tail -f /var/log/messages $ sudo lsusb $ cat /lib/udev/rules.d/40-bitpim.rules $ groups Are you a member of the plugdev group? Do other usb devices work for your user, i.e. thumb drives? I believe you have a permissions or device problem as the phone is supported by bitpim (listed as the Toshiba version). Good luck. ;-) --- On Thu, 7/21/11, Daniel Senderowicz <da...@Sy...> wrote: From: Daniel Senderowicz <da...@Sy...> Subject: Re: [BitPim-user] connecting to the cdm9950sp/vm4450 To: bit...@li... Cc: da...@bi... Date: Thursday, July 21, 2011, 9:37 PM I did try to run as root, but no avail. My bitpim was installed through Synaptic (Ubuntu natty 11.04), so I assume that all the files should be there. However I wonder if the instructions you indicate are up to date and concurrent with the way the installation places the files. For example, there is no /etc/udev/rules.d/60-bitpim.rules, but there is /lib/udev/rules.d/40-bitpim.rules, also there is no /usr/bin/bpudev, but there is /lib/udev/bpudev and there is no "cellusers" group. In any case, I'm wondering: when I plug the phone in, shouldn't I see some port automatically opened in /dev, even without running bitpim? Many thanks for your time.
