I am going to dabble and consider adding code for the Samsung metroPCS R450 as a starter. The following page states: " Install Python You muse use Python 2.5. " http://www.bitpim.org/developer.html The closest versions I can find on python.net are: http://www.python.org/download/ Python 2.5.1 (April 18, 2007) and Python 2.5.2 (February 22, 2008) I see 2.5.2 on the following also. http://www.python.org/download/releases/ So, I assume that 2.5.2 is the release version of 2.5 that I should use for BitPim. Is that correct? I just want to make sure as I go along since I am a very green newbie with BitPim. I don't want to assume and later regret it as I trash several hours of work. My apologies if this question is redundant of a previously posted question. Let me know how to find the previous one if so because I didn't find it. I have good techy\dev\quality\professional experience. But I will be getting up to speed here on spare time. Again... BitPim newbie... Some newbie grace period is requested. :) Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated and will hopefully be returned one day. Thanks Todd |

To whom it may concern, I had sent an email because I couldn't connect to bitpim using bluetooth. I have since bought an USB data cable for my LG AX260 Scoop. If I choose other CDMA phone, then bitpim will detect my phone. Although I can connect, it still won't let me receive data from or send data to my phone. Will you please help me with the process to get these options available. My main goal is to move my songs from Audio to Ringers. I am looking forward to hearing back from you. Thanks for your time. I had a problem with bitpim's python scripts crashing and not allowing convert sound. might add a specific dependency for ffmpeg ??? still have the problem (even with ffmpeg installed) of python crash if try to use GUI to manipulate file start, length, etc. Debian Lenny, bitpim 1.0.5 hope this helps improve the packages. ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- BitPim: *2* fixes for Debian Lenny convert sound bug - still a GUI issue in editing length etc FIX 1: http://www.bitpim.org/help/ How do I bypass the Convert Audio File Dialog? To bypass the Convert Audio File dialog, press and hold the Shift key and click on the Add button (Shift+Add). --- ***** To do this, I suppose one must first convert the mp3 to appropriate format with another program, as audacity!!! ***** -------------------------------------------------- until the python scripts problem in Lenny's bitpim is fixed ... ... my guess is the problem resides in ringers.py and/or conversions.py --- From exception dialog: File "/usr/share/bitpim/code/conversions.py", line 60, in gethelperbinary raise common.HelperBinaryNotFound(basename, basename+osext, [helperdir]) HelperBinaryNotFound: Helper binary ffmpeg.lbin not found. It should be in one of /usr/share/bitpim/helpers ... Frame gethelperbinary in /usr/share/bitpim/code/conversions.py at line 60 basename = 'ffmpeg' f = '/usr/share/bitpim/helpers/ffmpeg.lbin' -------------------------------------------------- FIX 2: try installing ffmpeg, and deps ... (ffmpeg is listed as as "suggested" install with bitpim) **** voila !!! now one can convert !! ! still a problem with subsequently cutting length of file by gui sliders, though !! ... one still can use the boxes above to enter times, etc, -------------------------------------------------- FIX NOT YET DONE: From exception dialog: ... File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/wx-2.6-gtk2-unicode/wx/lib/masked/maskededit.py", line 5534, in _validatePaste raise ValueError('"%s" will not fit into the control "%s"' % (paste_text, self.name)) ValueError: " 0.00" will not fit into the control "masked.num" ... |

Hi Barragan, Maybe you're missing the drivers for the VX8300? Here's a link to the drivers on Verizon's site: http://www.vzam.net/vcastmusic/Step3.aspx?modelID=2&driverFile=LGUSBModemDriver_WHQL_Eng_Ver_4.8.1.exe Later, Joe On 11/20/08, Barragan Jesus <bd....@ho...> wrote: > > Hi, > I have a Vx8300, and my carrier is verizon, I tried to connect my phone > using Bitpim but I kept getting a Phone detection fail message. > > I could only get two options when I go to setting Auto and com3 but > neither one work after I tried. > > hope I could get some advise. > > In the past I was able to connect with this same phone so I dont know > what is wrong now. > > > thank you > > ________________________________ > Get more done, have more fun, and stay more connected with Windows Mobile(R). > See how. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's > challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great > prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > _______________________________________________ > BitPim-devel mailing list > Bit...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bitpim-devel > > |

Jason, You need to download the Motorola drivers, try this link. http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/Handset_USB_Driver/ Connect your phone, the drivers will start loading... there are several. Once they are installed right click on "My Computer" Select "Manage" Computer Manager window will open, select "Device Manager" Select "Modems" Motorola should be listed. Right click on it and select "properties". There will be a tab labeled "Diagnostics" in the properties window. Click on the "Query Modem" button near the bottom right of the window. If the log window populates with data you are connected. Try Bitpim again, you should be good to go. I tried the Phone Wizard and everything. It also only found the COM1 port, I dont know if there's supposed to be more ports showing up |
