Hi all. I've got some ancient old Claris works 4.0 documents, and it looks weird when opening them from within Appleworks. I don't want to move over to Appleworks yet however and am still happy using Claris works. My printer died the other week though, and I havn't been able to replace it, so I went out and bought a new Intel Imac, but Claris works 4.0 no longer works on it (no supprise there.) Is there a way to add my new printer to be printed via some PostScript drivers or something? Is this implemented in Balilisk. Your help is much appreciated, Thanks |

That would be because there is no sheep_net device on OS X. Try putting slirp in the EtherNet interface field instead. -- Nigel Pearson, ni...@in...|"In this city I confess Telstra Net. Ok First of all I don't know why it says can not open /dev/sheep_net no such file or directory ethernet will not be available. I click ok and it just exits. bas...@li... wrote: Welcome to the bas...@li... mailing list! To post to this list, send your email to: bas...@li... Ok I followed your instructions here: Anonymous CVS access Because SheepShaver shares a lot of source files with Basilisk II, you also need to checkout the Basilisk II sources. To download the current version of the sources via CVS: $ cvs -d :pserver:an...@cv...:/home/cvs/cebix login (password is "anoncvs") $ cvs -d :pserver:an...@cv...:/home/cvs/cebix checkout BasiliskII $ cvs -d :pserver:an...@cv...:/home/cvs/cebix checkout SheepShaver $ cd SheepShaver $ make links You can then try to compile the program with $ cd src/Unix $ ./autogen.sh $ make under Linux, or $ cd src/BeOS $ make under BeOS. I am using Fedora Core 6 32 bit version on a 64 bit PC. Here is what I did. So, you are not using the GNU C library? The usual C library is=20 normally under /lib{,64}/libc.so.6 on Linux systems. You might be able=20= to execute your /usr/lib/libc.so.5 to identify it. FYI, the reported line corresponds to an SHMLBA reference. If this=20 piece of code doesn't compile, the mostly likely cause is that your C=20 library is broken. If your system supports the X/Open System Interface=20= for shared memory through the usual shmat() et al. functions, then=20 SHMLBA shall be defined correctly and #include <sys/shm.h> is enough in=20= that case (i.e. no extra linker flag is needed). Hi Natalia! Thanks very much for your reply. So, if I switch off the JIT on Linux, I'll get decent startup times? I don't notice any serious performance problems under Windows. One thing though, how much could possibly be cached? If it takes 30 seconds under Windows under VMware and the emulated machine is pretty snappy, what exactly is being cached under Linux in order to take over 5 minutes to boot? Surely all this would do is add an initial 30 seconds or so before the boot process begins. Cheers, Jason. that is surely because the opcode conversion cache (If im not wrong, =20 that is how SS works currently) - the JIT and so on When it is booting it is executing almost all PowerPC instructions =20 (belive me, MacOS does most! xD), so they are converted, then, they =20 are already cached and things works faster. I think in Windows JIT is currently broken, so there is no so cache =20 in windows and that's why boots faster (but, therorically, you should =20= see it is really faster in Linux). I hope it helped. Hi Everybody! I compiled the cvs version of SS to see how it performs. Booting up takes something in the order of five minutes - until it gets to the "welcome to mac os" screen, then it runs quite quickly. Next, I tried the RPM from the wiki (using alien to make a DEB for Ubuntu) and the same slow boot up occurred. Using the exact same disk image and ROM, I downloaded and installed SS to run under Windows (via VMware) and it boots in less than 30 seconds. Is there a known problem with the Linux version? Is there any other information you would like me to supply? Many thanks, Jason. Ubuntu Edgy: 2.6.15-26-686 |

Hi SheepShaver compiles great on OSX (10.4.7) with SDL graphics and slirp networking all working OK. The one thing that I can=B9t get to work is sound= . Even though the sound control panel in MacOS 9.0.4 shows a built-in device, there are no settings for it and no sound is heard when the alert sounds ar= e played. Strangely a sound is heard when OS9 is restarted after an incorrec= t shut down but that=B9s the only time. I am using a 4Mb Powermac ROM (I can=B9t get the sound control panel to open at all with any of the New World ROM=B9s)= . Has anyone got any ideas what might be causing this??? Cheers Dave |

If you give us a bit more detail about the problem we might be able to help. If the error is something like: make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. then you need to run some commands to generate the makefile. The file INSTALL in the top level of the source tree will tell you how to get started. > What about switching to subversion? I have had good experiences using SVN for the MythTV project. MythTV uses Subversion with the Trac issue management system, which is a nice combination (though JIRA is still my favorite). See http://cvs.mythtv.org/trac I particularly like being able to do "svn diff" while not connected to the internet. Only downside is that the Mac OS IDE, Xcode, doesn't have a Subversion plugin that I know of. -- Nigel Pearson, ni...@in...| "Peacemaking is our profession" Telstra Net. HELLO?!? I need to get some assistance in completeing the "MAKE" file. The Make command is not working. Does anyone with any knowledge actually read this list?? Many people are having this problem... but there seems to be no response from anyone who would be setting up this list to answer QUESTIONS. _________________________________________________________________ Don't just search. Hi, What about switching to subversion? The immediate gain I see is: - Cheap copies, files can be moved and changelogs are kept - ChangeSets are much more convenient to get the whole commit instead of looking for individual files You can still use viewcvs for the web interface which IMHO is the best anyway. Too few projects use it though, I don't know why as it's much more convenient. FYI, we converted (some of) our projects as follows: * On the CVS server (or with a copy in xxx): cvs2svn --dump-only --cvs-revnums --encoding=latin1 * On the SVN server: svn mkdir -m "adding xxx" file:///svn/wherever/xxx svnadmin load /svn --parent-dir /wherever/xxx < cvs2svn-dump If you have problems with branches or tags, you may have to force them with --force-branch=the_branch or --force-tag=the_tag. Note that I did not make the migration myself, I simply asked for the procedure to the project admin. Bye, Gwenole. |

Hi Folks, Not really a devel Q, but not much happens on user:) I've downloaded the cvs and I'm trying to make for 2.6.16-1.2133_FC5, but I get: [root@morgansmachine Unix]# make make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Any ideas much appreciated (something I'm missing I suspect). Below is output of running autogen.sh. Also, can "make install" be directed to install to /usr/local or /opt? (So, I don't have to re make when I fc5->6.)
