I have an iBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.4.  I love nostalgia so someone  
I know gave me Mac OS 7.5 CD's because he had no use for it and I  
bought a Mac Classic II, system 7 (I have given up trying to install  
Mac OS 7.5 on it doesn't fit on the floppies) off eBay.  I downloaded  
Basilisk for Mac OS X, copied my Mac Classic II's 512k ROM to my  
iBook, started up Basilisk and it crashes.  I downloaded version 16  
(supports black and white) and when I pop the Mac OS CD in Basilisk  
seems to try to boot off it (the CD drive spins) but not even a disk  
with a question mark pops up all i can get is the background.  When I  
hold down the "C" key the emulator crashes.  Can someone help me?  Thanx

Experimental ports to MacOS X for Intel are now available online.

Binaries are available through the "flash" box. All necessary changes=20
are now in CVS.

Please read the included file README.html. Thanks to Toshi for allowing=20=

me to temporarily squat his machine. ;-)

I have no idea of how well the emulators perform and I don't expect=20
them to be faster than run under Linux on the same platform. Both=20
emulators have JIT compiled in.

Sorry, but what is an "AV's"? What was the latest working B2 version? 
Do you have something useful in the stdout.txt & stderr.txt files available
in the B2.exe directory?

Sorry, but what is an "AV's"? What was the latest working B2 version? 
Do you have something useful in the stdout.txt & stderr.txt files

Unfortunately, I have no plan on buying an Intel Mac either (no use of 
it). And, I am too used to receiving hardware from constructors at the 
office when they want me to {,sup}port anything. ;-)

So, in the mean time, I was squatting Toshi's iMac.

This looks like a difficult approach to me. Basilisk II and SheepShaver 
share most of the same source code but resulting compiled code and 
behaviour are different. Besides, if you turn non-main() parts into a 
shared library, you will have name clashes between B2 and SheepShaver, 
especially when you would try to load both at a time (your 1 68k & 1 
ppc Mac scenario).

Universal binaries look simpler to achieve, at the expense of extra 
hackage in the configure scripts.

Why not build Basilisk II and SheepShaver as regular binaries and have 
a common UI that would fork/exec/embed the right process into the UI's 
window? IIRC, GTK+ allows this kind of thing but I don't know for 
Cocoa. You will also need some IPC to communicate state changes 
(power-off, pause, etc.). RealPlayer works this way, at least in Linux.

could cause this ?

	Devs, I have been thinking about how to simplify the
whole B2 vs SheepShaver effort lately. Would it be possible
to have the emulation part (whether it be SheepShaver,
B2 uae, or B2 with classic support) encapsulated in
a shared library?

	I would like to do this so there is just _one_ version
of each port, and also so that I could have both PPC and
x86 optimised emulators in mine. There is the added benefit
of being able to fire up multiple emulations in the one UI
(e.g. 2 68k and one PPC)

	Thoughts?

I didn' expect SheepShaver to build with X11. Actually it doesn't on 
Toshi's Intel iMac (MacOS X 1.0.4.4) and I am not interested in fixing 
it. i.e. Use SDL graphics or send patches.

What were those combinations and how did you solve the problems?

Nice.  Emulating 68K on PPC which is being emulated on x86.  ;)  Not 
exactly the fastest thing in the world, especially since the PPC 
version doesn't have JIT emulation.  A native x86 version of Basilisk 
II would be far faster.

Hi,

I recently tried to build SheepShaver for OS X 10.4.3 PPC - I could only
get a working version with the X11 GUI enabled and it was hassle to get
it working (kept crashing if slightly wrong options were enabled and
core dumped frequently anyway).

So I'm unsure how well that will work with OS X x86.

It would be important for it to run on OSX x86 as sheepshaver will get

Yes, I am preparing the snapshot release. Note that, there might be=20
some regressions but it's better to release now instead of letting the=20=

list of changes growing and growing without user testing.

Hi,

I have attached a patch I would like to commit since it clarifies the 
status of snapshot releases.
This adds a "-Pre (__DATE__)" suffix to user-visible version strings.

Since this changes the default version string and introduces extra work 
to actually redefine VERSION_DEVEL to "" on official releases, I wanted 
to pass this on first for review. Is this OK?
