That's what the Benchmark dialog is for. Not only does it test the speed of Audacity, but it does some correctness checks to make sure that Cut, Copy, Paste, and Undo are working correctly for random editing patterns. If we do want to make an MP3 test, perhaps we should add a button to the Benchmark dialog which creates a certain waveform (something predefined, like a sine wave), then encodes it to MP3, then makes sure the length of the resulting file is correct. It could even import the file and make sure the result is within epsilon of the original. - Dominic > Would it be possible to batch test using C++ for now?
