I am not planning to pursue this right now. I only needed consolation that in the long term, something could be done to measurably improve the code's robustness. For now I want to track down these bugs and be able to tell users that their problems will be fixed in the next version. Would it be possible to batch test using C++ for now? Something like: void RunMP3Test(AudacityProject *project) { project->OpenFile("somefile.wav"); ExportMP3(project, (...) ); /* check to ensure validity */ /* repeat with a bunch of other configurations */ } Any input on this??
