this morning I have just added an important new page to the Manual https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Updating_from_Audacity_2.x_to_Audacity_3.x <https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Updating_from_Audacity_2.x_to_Audacity_3.x#Unitary_Project> I recently started musing on the fact that as the 3.0.0 to 3.0.1 is a very short time period, the important information in the What's New in 3.0.0 about updating to UP would be lost to future readers. I also realized that all the updates from 2.x to 3.x could well take several years (over a decade even possibly_ So I carved this new page out of the What's New in 3.0.0 *(page history is a powerful tool)* a) I placed a link to it from a small new section in the 3.0.1 What's New: https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/New_features_in_this_release#aup b) then I thought some more and also placed a link to it from the front page: https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Main_Page In the Installing and updating section - as I realized that some folk will still be upgrading to UP from 2.x for many years to come - so for them this will still be relevant. c) I though further and added links on these three pages: https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Installing_and_updating_Audacity_on_Windows https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Installing_and_updating_Audacity_on_Mac_OS_X https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Installing_and_updating_Audacity_on_Linux d) Which in its turn led me to some serious polishing on those pages. It always amazes me that when I turn my attention focus to pages that haven't been edited for a while I usually find that most of those can be seriously improved with a bit of polish. None of them are really bad before - they can just be shined-up nicely. Peter. |
