Personally I would keep references to third part applications in the manual very generalised - just refer to them as "third party applications" and link to the wiki. Then, if for example some third party application becomes evil, we can expunge it from the wiki and we are not then advertising evil software. If it's in the manual, then it is in that version of the manual for all time. I think the guiding principle should be that the Audacity manual is only about Audacity. Any documentation that we wish to provide regarding third party software goes into the wiki.
