If you are asking for real-time preview of effects, so you can move the sliders and hear the result, Audacity doesn't have that yet for historical reasons of how it was originally architected, but it may come eventually. You can always apply the effect and undo it, or change the Playback Preferences so that you can hear a longer effect preview: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/playback_preferences.html .
