Hi All, As some of you may know from my (very few) other posts, I have successfully created a GUI based plug-in for audacity called Eutychus, that helps record church (or other religious) services. In order to make that work I have had to make a number of very ugly workarounds to avoid patching the core code. Having made my plug-in work, I am now trying to put together some patches to the core code that will allow my plug in to be a lot tidier and hopefully make the next guys' job much easier too. This is the first of those patches. This very small patch makes two key areas of audacity public to an in-process plugin - metadata tags and the xml file reading and writing routines. I needed the meta-data because my plugin automatically fills in the meta-data of the audacity project for the user, based on what event they are recording (date, preacher, readings etc.) The xml routines I needed when I create the initial project file from a template. Using audacity's own routines, rather than a 3rd party, kept the size and effort down, whilst keep compatibility high. Please can you consider this patch for the next release of Audacity Thanks Stephen Parry |
