Hi Martyn, Yes I'm talking about the Audacity button that appears in that bar at the bottom that W7 has. There are two classes of object in that bar BTW - one is effectively a shortcut to launch popular apps the other is to manage instances of apps that are running (enables you to toggle them on/off the screen or select one instance from among many). What seems to be happening with 2.0.5 RC1 is that if all running apps are minimized and the I launch Audacity I get the button in the bar at the bottom (which indicates that Audacity is actually launched) but the Audacity app does not appear on the screen. Waiting and waiting does not get Audacity to appear on-screen. This behavior is moonphase. If I then click on any other running application from that bar, or if I click on the Audacity button in the bottom bar, up pops Audacity on-screenThis is consistent and not moonphase. Similarly if I already have another app up on the screen and then launch 2.0.5 RC1 I get both that task button and Audacity appearing on the screen. This too is consistent and not moonphase. Is this 'task button' the thing that James made visible with r12617, a thing in the bar at the bottom (or side, top, that's configurable, I know) of win 7 that shows the apps running? Sorry, I don't know what it's called right now. It says 'Audacity is starting up...'. Audacity can take a variable length of time to start, here at least, and now while I'm waiting I see this iconized window. If I click on it that might correspond to when the full window loads, or it might not, depending on luck/timing. Does that account for the 'moonphase' thing? (And I hate that term 'moonphase'! Whatever happened to 'apparently random' or 'I don't understand'?.) I have not tested this very much at all, but Audacity seems to start faster the second time I run it than the first. This may again contribute to 'apparently random' effects. Before 2.0.5, did you just wait, listening to your drive whirring away, and now you see an on-screen thing that does not do as you expect? Just a thought.
