The experimental code for note tracks has beats and bars. Bars are a bit tricky because the time signature can change. Since note tracks and MIDI already have a way to encode this information, it would be ugly to introduce a parallel mechanism. However, showing the beats in the ruler would not be a bad thing. Currently, getting beats and bars into a note track requires loading a midi file with a tempo track, so simply specifying beats at a fixed tempo would require some additional interface. -Roger On 4/29/13 10:58 PM, Paul Vint wrote: > Hi all, > > Been loving using Audacity lately recording stuff from my shiny new > guitar, but the inability to have the ruler show beats and measures is > a bit of a frustration. > > I've taken a look at the code, and have it roughly working for a fixed > bpm and beats per measure value, but thought I'd stop there before > spending too much time at it and send some questions off. > > I took a look through the forum and the wiki, but frankly it's > difficult to find where this has been discussed because of all the > "beat detection" discussions... > > First question: > Other than it being a pain to figure out how to scale the ruler, is > there a potential gotcha that I can't see that would make this more > difficult that it first seems?
