Protools has "Playlists" and "Related Takes" SoundForge uses "Multiple Takes" Reaper has it's "Take System" Sonar has "Layers" They may look a bit like old school punch-in recording, and may even use the term "punch in", but it is not so crude. These are variations of the "virtual track" idea that can be "exploded", "peeled", dragged or otherwise split into separate audio clips. I don't use Ableton and I've not used Logic for many years.
