I just messed about with these. One important consideration is what happens when we have long entries in the list. The third version does not react well as it is coded. The first to work fine. Our current version has a problem with long entries - if an entry word wraps that row in all the columns gets expanded even though there is no text. --Ed > -----Original Message----- > From: Gale Andrews [mailto:ga...@au...] > Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2012 2:30 PM > To: For discussion of Audacity Manual > Subject: Re: [Audacity-manual] SC4 effect > > > | From Steve the Fiddle <ste...@gm...> Wed, 14 Nov 2012 > | 16:00:47 +0000 > | Subject: [Audacity-manual] SC4 effect > > On 14 November 2012 14:32, Peter Sampson <pet...@ya...> > wrote: > > > Many thanks to Steve for documenting the controls. > > > > > > And with a bit of a struggle I managed today to update the > > > alphabetic table in the > > > http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Index_of_Effects,_Generators_and_ > > > Analyzers > > > to include an entry for SC4 :-)) > > > > Tell me about it :=) > > > > It's better now than it was before the debate about vertical or > > horizontal ordering, but it's still a nightmare. > > And neither ordering is really satisfactory in any case, because it's a table rather than a > list. > > Does anyone have a preference among the lists I posted a while ago: > http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/User:Windinthew/Multi-column_lists ? > > I think these are all more maintainable? > > Both David B and I favour "3 A single list wrapped with margin-left and negative > margin-top" (assuming earlier IE can't be made to work with the fourth option). > > If we can decide, then all that is needed is to put the coloured styling and faux table > back (if we even want that). > > > > > Gale > > > > > > From: Peter Sampson <pet...@ya...> > > > To: Audacity Manual <aud...@li...> > > > Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2012 6:48 PM > > > Subject: [Audacity-manual] SC4 effect > > > > > > I started work on the SC4 effect today - but now I need some serious > > > help as I have no idea how this effect works and what the parameters control. > > > See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/SC4 > > > > > > I also struggled trying to add an SC4 entry to the alphabetic > > > "table" in > > > http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Index_of_Effects,_Generators_and_ > > > Analyzers#Make_the_sound_louder_or_quieter > > > I gave up after a well-screwed-up attempt :-(( > > > > > > Thanks, > > > Peter. > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- > Monitor your physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure from a single web console.
