In regard to the problem with Audacity becoming unresponsive, after creating thirty-six very small project windows using the Release build from August 29, 2009 all of those windows fit neatly on the screen cascading with the original behavior but the exact same unresponsive behavior appeared. This bug is not new to my code -- it was there long before I started development. I am almost certain that this is a resource allocation issue; it might not even be the fault of Audacity. Bill -- I CCed this directly to you to ensure that I got your attention... could you perform the following test on your Mac (make sure to save all data in any open programs because this may well crash your machine): Launch Audacity; size the project window so that it is fairly small and move it so that it is in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Start creating new projects; eventually a new project's bottom right corner will near the bottom right corner of the screen -- drag that project up to the top left corner of the screen; repeat until something unexpected happens -- this might be a crash, it might be your computer becoming unresponsive, it might be Audacity becoming unresponsive but other programs being responsive, or it might be some warning that you have run out of resources. Let me know what happens. Thanks! --Ed |
